Let's Beat The Third Wave
The country has suffered badly due to the second wave of Covid-19. Once we were able to control the first wave, we all become lax in observing the Covid-19 guidelines resulting in being caught in the grip of second wave, which was deadly. A lot of precious lives were lost. The second wave was a catastrophe.
Several European countries are already experiencing the third wave. It is predicted that we are likely to face the third wave any time after August-September. This wave will be deadlier than the second wave as a new variant of the virus D plus attacks us.
What are symptoms of the third wave?
- Fever, Cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties
- It may take 2-14 for symptoms to appear.
- Youth may be vulnerable specially those not vaccinated.
To combat the Third wave the following are suggested:
- Get vaccinated as early as possible.
- Even after vaccination continue to wearing mask , maintaining social distancing, and sanitization/washing of hands regularly.
- Motivate and help others in getting vaccinated.
- Educate the society about the third wave.
- Form small groups to help society.
Possibilities for dealing with the Third Wave
- Early detection of a potential mutation in India that could produce the third wave. The possibility of mutation in a well-known virus is well-known, and scientists from all over the world are working together to understand it. However, we must underline the importance of following the mutant strains that are capable of more aggressive behavior in the Indian population, drawing cues from the first and second waves.
- Vaccinating a huge population, the majority of whom live in rural areas, is an acknowledged challenge in India's public health sector. This problem is exacerbated by the current pandemic, which has swallowed practically every human resource available to public health.
- Why do we need to establish sustainable medical infrastructure? This pandemic's single most essential lesson is that we need to build sustainable medical infrastructure. The first wave focused on increasing the production of N95 masks, PPE kits, and hospital beds, while the second wave focused on ensuring the availability of oxygen and medications such as Remdesvir and Tocilizumab.
We have been in a state of lockdown for too long. If we take correct measures to combat this pandemic, then we shall be able to beat the third wave and save ourselves and humanity from this deadly disease. So, let's join hands to beat this disease.
