Once upon a time, a dog named Kuttu wanted to make friendship with the strongest animal. Without wasting time he went out in search of the strongest animal in Champakvan ( forest). He saw cheeku rabbit. He thought  Cheeku is surely smart and must he strong too. He asked him “will you be my friend?”

Cheeku replied, Why not? From today we both are friends, and cheeku took kuttu home. Both ate and talked, and when it became dark, they slept away together.

   At night some noises were heard outside. Kuttu immediately got up and started barking. Cheeku got scared and said “Friend stop barking. If a wolf or jackal hear us, they will eat us up”.

  Kuttu understood that cheeku was not the strongest.

  In the morning he left cheeku and went away. On the way he met a wolf.

    Kuttu remembered what cheeku said about the jackal and wolf eating them up. He thought surely the wolf was strongest.

  He asked him , “Uncle wolf, will you be my friend?”

  Why not? Come on, we are friends from now, and the wolf took Kuttu to his place. His house was near the den of the king of the jungle. Both stayed together at night.

   Again at midnight some noises were heard outside. Kuttu got up and again started barking loudly.

Stopping him the wolf said, “If the king sleeping in his den hears your barking, he will finish us both. So stop barking.”

Kuttu was again doubtful. He thought that the wolf was weekin front of the lion. He moved out from there.

As he moved little further, he saw Sher Singh coming out of his den. Kuttu very decently bowed down to him and said, “Your Majesty, you are the king of the jungle and the strongest too. Will you be my friend?”.

Sher Singh smiled. How strange a small little dog was asking him to make friend with him.

The lion said, “Well I accept it. We are friends from today.”

They stayed that night together, at night they heard some noises outside and Kuttu started barking. The lion stopped him, “If the  hunter man hears us he will shoot us up, so stop barking.”

Kuttu was surprised by the words of the lion 'Such a huge frame and king of the forest! And scared of man?. He left the place.

  The next day by chance he met the hunter man in the jungle.

He quickly asked the man “Will you be my friend?”.

The hunter found the dog was too good and healthy so he accepted the friendship proposal and took him to his home

He felt nice at hunters home. But there at night some noises were heard outside and Kuttu started barking, the hunter also got up. He said “Well done Kuttu, bark loudly so that no their may dare to think to come here.”

  Kuttu felt good. This was his first friend who had encouraged him to bark loudly.He thought, 'It is only man who is fit to be his friend because he is the Bravest and not frightened of anyone.

From then Kuttu never left his hunter friend and a dog became a man's guard and friend for always.
