Those were the days!! A smile ran through each muscles of my face as this thought came in my mind.... "Such a pandemic situation", I was thinking setting on my bed. Suddenly a group of sparrows gathered in my balcony and started twittering and that scene passed through my mind....
Exactly two years before; on same date; we all six friends gathered for a trip, smiled at each other and a round of laugh waved up. Off course as all were employed but only me have the permission for vacation but all others came anyhow; as I was not feeling good and only called to one friend and they communicated each other about this. I called suresh, " Hi!! Are you able to talk to me for two minutes only if not busy" told to suresh. In return he scold me in friendly manner and told " Is this the way to talk to your friend....There is nothing without you!! Surely you are welcome all the time." I was very upset till that time but the words came from suresh gave me feeling like a coldness in very hot summer. Just a day before I got break up with my girl friend and the relationship broken after a long period of togetherness for 8 years. I was feeling broken and called to suresh to share my sorrow and pain with him. We talked around one and half an hour and I was not even in thought of my broke relationship. I literally found the saying true that FRIENDSHIP IS A CURE FOR ALL WOUNDS. I was feeling very light. Due to the break up I was so broke that I asked my manager leave for a week and Co incidentally he agreed. The very next day suddenly in the morning my phone rang up. I picked. A voice came from other side, "Hey bro!! Are you at home. I nodded, "Huh!!". "See I'm here to meet you standing downstairs " he continued. On call I saw from my window. It was Suresh. Become surprised I ran downstairs, opened gate and hugged him. He tapped me on my back like I was expecting someone to come for me. Suddenly I saw another one of my friend just reached with a heavy backpack. I was amazed to see this. And then one by one all of five friends were there. I was nowhere have any idea what's going on. They all started smiling by seeing in each other's eyes. And now I also understood what's just going on. Now we all started smiling each other and a round of laugh waved up. Suresh told me by completing my call on yesterday he called all other friends and asked if they can come up with me for you and all agreed and also we decided to spend this week together by travelling to any good places. And I wondered to know that some of them came without leave permission and some came by making false health excuses. Ha ha ha!! Only for me. We spent the quality time with each other.
As I was day dreaming and drowned in my thoughts my phone rang up. "Hello!! Ya ya. Huh.... OK.... surely I will manage.... No no just within time duration... yup " I hung up... The phone call was from hospital in the pandemic my friend Suresh was hospitalised and doctors told me that the only a miracle can save him. He was diseased by a severe disease followed by typhoid. The duo made him irrecoverable. I had to arrange some amount of money which was actually a huge amount and some litres of blood which was actually a rare blood group.
It was morning 8 am and without wasting a minute I rushed to blood banks and started calling each and every person who can help me in the manner of anything as we lost one of our friend last year due to lack of urgency. One by one I visited blood banks and hospitals. One by one I called my relatives and friends to help me. Some came up to help me, others shown their helplessness. I did not stop for anything till my target. Suresh needs to be operated and doctors were waiting for blood and money. I had a time limit of 5 o'clock. Now it's 3.30 and I just collected only half amount of money and blood required but some how at last moment I arranged all requirements. I rushed to hospital, completed formalities and given all things required. Suresh got operated.
Now this was the time I had to wait till operation gets completed. I myself appreciated for arranging 70 lacs rupees and rare blood by even selling my apartment and car. I slept there in hospital on bench by thinking and waiting for the result of operation. I don't know when the sun rose again. I was on bench. Suddenly a hand came to my head, gently rubbed my hairs. I opened my eyes and YES... he was Suresh standing in front of me, smiling at me. I stood up, hugged him and stream of tears of joy flew through my eyes. Doctor told me he is okay now and within 2-3 days he will get discharged from hospital.
I was happy.... I wanted him because he was there and that's why THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!
