As many of you might have noticed or may not have but 1st July in Maharashtra is celebrated as Krishi/Kisan Divas. And do we do that? Well there is an easy answer if you have come up with one under humanitarian purposes or if you think it is out f respect for the farmers. Well then you are right but there is this other reason as well. Today we are going to talk about that in this blog hope you enjoy it and get to know something more about the state. 

In the year 1963 after the election, new Chief Minister was elected for the state of Maharashtra. The new chief minister was Shri Vasantrao Naik. he apparently was the longest serving chief minister of the state of Maharashtra from year 1963 to 1975. In his time he did a lot that manufactured services and developed the way of agriculture in the state. He made sure that different Agricultural Universities and Institutions were build and made accessible to each and everyone in the state. The season of hybrid seed in the state of Maharashtra began because of him. Different water conservation project began and it paved the way for sustainable development in the agricultural sector in the state of Maharashtra, just because of on man. Not exactly he had his own team paving this way and planning the best for the state. And hence he is known as the father of Green Revolution in the state of Maharashtra ad hence on his birth Anniversary that is on the 1st of July, Maharashtra celebrates the Kisan Divas in order to honor him. 

But this was a long time back, government has changed, people have changed, choices of agriculture have changed and hence people especially farmers have faced a lot. many governments came and are gone but the most disturbed and struggling group o people not just in the state of Maharashtra but any other state in this country are farmers. We all know the various protests that took place earlier in the month of June till now in the year 2021 for the different changes that the government brought up in the agricultural laws. The laws were made to help farmers make produce at an affordable rate and cell it in the market without getting mugged or not being paid the actual price for what they deserve. 

but this is exactly what the farmers are facing. The exact opposite of what the laws state. Government not coming up with different alternatives in order to help farmers with loans, or the once who are in dept. of loans and are not able to pay that loan back due to less produce or less amount that they got for their produce. Maharashtra is also known for the many suicide stories of farmers because they were not able to pay their loans. Many other stuff happens but is unknown to us takers as they are not covered by  our media. Farmers are our sole providers, imagine a day without food. I mean we can make it through without water for sometime but no food is quite difficult. 

Hence 1st of July in Maharashtra is celebrated as the Kisan Divas in order to respect and honor our farmers.
