Interesting Psychological Facts About Human Behavior

There are many individuals in the world who come from various backgrounds, observe various cultures, appreciate various viewpoints, and take various paths. No matter how diverse we may appear, we actually share a lot of things in common on a fundamental level. We are connected psychologically as well as physically by shared traits like having one head, two eyes, ten fingers, and the same number of toes.

We all exhibit common behaviors that influence the decisions we make, the people we like, and the objectives we pursue, regardless of where we are in the globe.

However, very few individuals are aware of the psychological foundations of our common humanity.

Some of the most "human" behaviors are frequently disregarded, which causes some people to finally go against their basic nature. For instance, if you examine accepted social norms, you can find that our civilization is built on massive misconceptions about how actual people really feel, think, and behave. In light of this, let's talk about some fascinating and occasionally unexpected truths regarding the fundamental behaviors that define us as humans.

  1. THE WORK PARADOX

Does having money increase or decrease our motivation to work hard? You might believe that a large salary will inspire you to do well at work, but the opposite is frequently true. When they are not paid enough or at all, people often work harder on initiatives.

In other words, as odd as it may sound, getting paid may ultimately make you less motivated. Why? because of a shift in your intentions.

When you take payment, a project ceases to be a passion endeavor. It loses its intrinsic motivation when it becomes something you do "for the money." The best things you do in life won't bring you much money, despite the fact that you might be hoping for a substantial reward.

2. THE DOWNSIDE OF PREPARATION

The drawback of planning ahead is that many people enjoy creating a backup plan, a plan A, and a plan B. You do everything you can to maximize your chances of success, but what if your backup plan actually makes things worse?

As it turns out, spending time planning a backup plan increases the likelihood that plan A will fail. This is why. Having a backup plan allows for the potential that plan A won't work. When that occurs, your faith in the original strategy begins to wane, which increases the likelihood that you will fail. Contrary to popular belief, being well-prepared is not always advantageous.

3. UNNATURAL VIOLENCE

Many individuals believe that people are by nature violent. that it's somehow ingrained in us to harm, combat, and conquer other beings.

However, a closer look at human psychology indicates that we are actually hardwired to feel a strong emotion called empathy rather than to use violence against one another.

Your own brains, which have components known as mirror neurons that help you comprehend other people's behaviors, provide some of the strongest evidence in support of this theory. Mirror neurons are critical for higher order cognitive functions like language use and help to explain how humans are able to communicate, And despise humanity, but never forget that humanity is characterized by its capacity for empathy.

4. THE LANGUAGE OF EXPRESSIONS

Despite the fact that there are hundreds of languages spoken by various groups of people worldwide, only one is understood and spoken by practically everyone.

The language of expressions is the sole universal language on earth. Regardless of someone's origins or upbringing, a smile or a frown conveys a message that we can all understand. Expressions barely differ in language across social classes and civilizations. Why? because psychologically, human expressions are deeply rooted.

5. SELF-REPLICATING EMOTIONS

Human emotions frequently reproduce themselves. To put it another way, cheerful individuals tend to make pleasant decisions, whereas lonely and depressed people act in ways that reflect their unhappy mental states.

Although we're oversimplifying the situation here, it's vital to keep in mind how your choices affect how you perceive the world. In contrast to misery, pleasure breeds happiness. Any emotion you project out into the world will be returned to you in the same form.
