Khakhra- A Lite And Healthy Snack

Hello readers

Khakhra is a perfect snack to munch. It is a Gujrati dish. It can be prepared using different ingredients as per our choice. The recipe that I am going to share today is not only delicious but healthy also. The use of oil is minimal and fenugreek is beneficial for health. So when you crave to eat something tasty while not harming your health you can try this.

To make methi khakhra, all the ingredients you need are-

Two cups of whet flour, one fourth cup of chickpea flour (beasn), one tablespoon of dry fenugreek levaes, half teaspoon of turmeric powder, one fourth teaspoon of red chili powder, one fourth teaspoon of cumin seeds, two teaspoon of oil, salt as per your taste and less than a cup of water.

Method to make khakhra- Take a bowl and add wheat flour, chickpea flour, dry fenugreek levaes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, oil and salt in it. Give it a mix. Now add the water and knead a dough. The should be a bit hard but not too hard like we make for poori. Once you are done with kneading the dough, cover it and put it for rest for about twenty minutes.

After twenty minutes, take the dough and give it a quick knead. Then make small round balls to make khakhras. Now roll out the dough balls. You have to roll them thin. Now put an iron tava on the gas stove. Heat it on medium flame. When it is heated, turn the flame low. Now put the rolled dough on the tava. When it starts to get cooked from one side, turn it. Then start pressing the khakhra with the help of a small steel bowl. This is essential to make the khakhras crispy. Keep on doing it until the khakhra is properly cooked. Roll out the next one while it is getting prepared. It takes about five to seven minutes for one khakhra to get prepared.

Khakhra is ready to eat now. You can enjoy it with tea or any sauce/ chatni of your choice. It can be eaten without anything else also. After they are cool down, you can keep them in an tight container and relish eating for about seven days. I would definitely recommend you to try this recipe.
