Ayodhya: Cinema Review – Dina Thandi - time.news - Time News

Written and Directed by R Manthira Moorthy, Ayothi is a Tamil action drama film starring Sasikumar, Pugazh, Yashpal Sharma, Preethi Asrani, Bose Venkat and others. Music is by NR Raghunandhan.

SYNOPSIS:A family from Ayodhya goes on a spiritual trip to Rameswaram. What follows is a series of incidents that transform the life of one of the family members.

We are consistently enthralled by films that explore human values and emotions. And when a movie is compelling enough to draw us into its world, we demand nothing less than an excellent film. Despite its theatrical approach, Mandhira Moorthy's film Ayothi is the kind of movie that makes a lasting impression on its audience. It discusses a range of topics, including religion, superstitions, male chauvinism, and more.

Although covering so many topics, the filmmaker has expertly maintained the plot straightforward without adding too many characters, incidents, or subplots. We meet a four-person Ayothi family just a few minutes into the movie. Yashpal Sharma, the patriarch of the orthodox, devout household, abuses and takes advantage of his wife in numerous ways. Preethi Asrani's character, Shivani, a college-bound girl, and a little boy are their two children. The family plans to travel to Rameswaram on a spiritual pilgrimage on the festival of Deepavali, not realising that the journey would go horribly wrong. A man from Rameshwaram named Sasikumar and Janki, the mother of the two children, both sustain significant injuries in an accident.

The skill of first-time director Mandhira Moorthy is sufficient to keep the audience's interest throughout the entire movie. The conversation and characters are realistically rendered and well-etched. Mandhira Moorthy has intelligently grasped the characteristics of a protagonist. Sasikumar's bravery is understated, and his character gracefully moves through the narrative.

It's welcome to see Pugazh playing a character rather than a comic. He played the part that was assigned to him admirably. The portrayal of Yashpal Sharma as a man with traditional and chauvinistic beliefs is convincing, and his acting during the climax is superb. Sasikumar did a good job in his role and blended in in. It's preferable not to reveal his character's name because doing so would detract from the viewers' enjoyment.

Background music by NT Raghunanthan takes the emotional scenes to a higher level and frequently allows viewers to empathise with the characters. The audience can be entertained by the other technical features as well. The cinematography of Madhesh Manickam expertly conveys the feelings and allows each frame speak for itself. The quality is obvious from the very first scene, and Ayodhya and Rameswaram are masterfully depicted.
The movie Ayothi is good and always emphasises love over religion.
