From childhood whatever I have seen or known ..I am just noting those down. It is not really same in every home. But yes I can assure it will definitely be the same in some households and people would have observed these things atleast once in their lives.
You have only one TV at your home and each and every person living in that home watches only in that TV. If there is a new movie everyone assembles in the TV room and watch the movie together.
When you are sick you either eat idlis, curd rice or bread. No heavy foods. Everyone at the family mostly eats the same food.
Having a boyfriend/girlfriend is a strict βno-noβ . It is infact a crime for all the relatives who will come to know about that. Especially when there is caste difference or religion difference or community, status etc., etc.,
Going out without makeup is a normal thing for girls and girls only wear covered clothes and parents will send them out only that way. It is considered as the girl Is coming from a decent family and is raised well by her parents.
Parents wake up early in the morning to do the morning Pooja. The bell is the alarm for the kids who are sleeping.
You share the same bedroom with your siblings. There is no thing like a separate room.
We are suggested to buy fruits and vegetables from local vendors and not from supermarkets . They are considered costly and hence are avoided.
You choose studies that will give you a stable income rather than pursuing your passion. Pursuing music and dance full time is a firm no-no because it doesnβt give you a stable income. There are many careers which are unheard of.
You carry food everywhere you go instead of buying it from outside as you want to save money .
Your vacations are always to your native village/ town where you meet your cousins , grandparents and extended family.
You use only steel plates and bowls for everything , for drinking tea /coffee. The glass and porcelain cutlery are taken out only when guests are at home.
If you are a student your daily routine will be going school, doing homework and study because studies are everything . Weekends involve extra homework.
Afternoon naps are must for every family member especially parents.
Lastly again this all things may not be same in every South Indian household . I am telling only based on my personal experience . Hope all the middle class people connects with these things. Keep reading!!!!
