     We would have seen our grandparents living healthily even in their old ages. This is because of the cereals that they ate at a young age. The cereals contain protein, fiber, calcium, iron, and vitamins in excess. In that case, we'll see about 9 cereals and their health benefits in this blog. 

FOXTAIL MILLET(THINAI):

     Foxtail millet contains protein, fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B, phosphorus, and calcium. It helps in strengthening the heart and increases eyesight. New moms are given foxtail millet in the form of kzool, to increase the breastmilk secretion. This millet can be taken in the form of idli, halwa, payasam, etc.,

FINGER MILLET (RAGI):

     Ragi contains more nutrients than rice and wheat. Most importantly, it contains calcium, iron, phosphorus, fiber, and vitamin B. This millet is the best for people with osteoporosis, anemia, heart disease, constipation, and diabetes. Ragi can be taken in form of kali, to reduce the body heat. It is good food for weight loss. It also helps to regulate the menstrual cycle. Ragi can be taken in the form of idli, dosa, kozhukattai, sevai, etc.,

LITTLE MILLET(SAAMAI):

    Since this little millet is rich in fiber this is good for diabetic patients. When compare with other millets, this one has more iron. It helps in treating anemia, constipation, and all stomach disorders. The minerals present in this increase the sperm count.

BARNYARD MILLET(KUTHIRAIVAALI):

     This millet is filled with calcium, iron, and fiber. It acts as an antioxidant. The fiber present in this millet helps in controlling high blood pressure, cancer, and heart diseases. This millet is extremely good for hip pain.

KODO MILLET(VARAGU):

     Kodo millet contains fiber, more than rice and wheat. It is easily digestible. It has phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, calcium, and vitamin B. Kodo millet strengthens the nervous system and bones. It is a blessing for girls with menstruation. 

PEARL MILLET(KAMBU):

     The vitamins present in this strengthen the body. Reduces body heat. Helps with indigestion. It is the best food for girls who have attended puberty. The good fats present in this millet protect the heart and purifies the blood. And it also increases immunity.

SORGHUM(CHOLAM):

     Fibers and iron in this millet help in weight gain. This is not good for people with skin disease, and psoriasis. People with indigestion and anemic can take this millet. This millet reduces the salt in the body. The presence of beta carotene helps in curing eye disorders.

HORSEGRAM MILLET(KOLLU):

     This protein-rich millet helps in body growth, and proper functioning of the cells and repairs the damaged cells. This millet reduces the unwanted fats in the body.  It controls white discharge and regulates the menstrual cycle.

BARLEY(BARLEY RICE):

    This is good for heart patients, pregnant women, anemia, for weight loss, The plant-based nutrient present in barley is naturally anti-cancerous. It also prevents breast cancer and any other types of cancer. Vitamin C in barley increases immunity.
