Long time ago Lord Sihva was in thinking mode regarding the mystery of the Vedas. He approached his better half Parvati and affectionately made her sit beside him. Parvati was also very eager to listen and to know regarding the Vedas. When Shiva said, “I wish to tell regarding the mystery of the Vedas,” Parvati accepted and folded her hands .She said, “That would be a very wonderful experience. “Lord Shiva smiled and started telling the mystery of the Vedas. Days, months and year passed on, Shiva continued on saying.
One day when Lord Shiva was busy in telling regarding the Vedas, Parvati got distracted for a while. Lord Shiva realized that Parvati did not seem to be paying attention properly. Lord Shiva got annoyed and said, “You are not looking too much interested in the Vedas. You Behave like an ordinary woman. Therefore, Vedas are not for you. You may go away from here. You will be soon born as a fisher-woman on the earth.”
Parvati disappeared for the following moment. After a long time, Shiva felt that he has made a blunder. Lord Shiva thought again, “Why did he curse her to whom he loved very much?” Lord Shiva cried loudly and realized, “Oh, no ! What have I done ?”
At that time, Nandi the greatest devotee of Lord Shiva who was standing nearby, understood the state of mind of his Lord. He felt mental agony but did not speak even a word.
Parvati was reborn on the earth. She was seen by the chief of the fisherman under a tree. He brought up the baby at his home and named her Parvati. Parvati was on invaluable gift of god the chief of fisherman. She grew up nicety. Often, Parvati assisted her father in catching fish. Parvati was extremely beautiful.
On the other side, Lord Shiva was fraught with sorrow. He was spending his days in great grief. He wished to meet Parvati. Lord Shiva called Nandi and informed about it. Nandi instantly got an idea.
The following day, Nandi took the shape of a big shark and scared all the other fisherman. The shark started attacking them. The fisherman disappeared. They came to the chief and informed him about the shark. The chief heard them very patiently and chalked out a plan. The chief declared an award. Soon, the declaration of the chief became the ‘talk of the town’. According to the declaration-“who, so ever will catch the shark, will be married to Parvati”.
Unluckily, none of the fisherman could catch the shark. Lord Shiva wanted this opportunity. He did not want to miss it. He took the shape of a fisherman. He approached the chief of the fisherman and said, “I can early catch the shark.” After permission, Lord Shiva caught the shark and saved the lives of all the fisherman. Each and every fisherman was very happy. According to the declaration, the chief married his daughter to Lord Shiva.
