With an almost ideal combination of performance, range and affordability, the 2022 Tesla Model 3 is a hype-proof EV. Fast and agile, especially at the performance trim level. In short, the Model 3 is an electric car that can be surpassed by enthusiastic drivers like us. Also included in the 2022 Editor's Choice List. The range is an impressive distance of 358 miles on a single charge with mid-range and long-range trim, eliminating the need to charge the Model 3 daily. However, its attractive entry-level pricing does not maximize the potential of the Model 3, and its fit and finish are incomparable to alternatives such as the Chevrolet Bolt and Ford Mustang Mach E. Still, there is no cheaper way to park one of Tesla's groundbreaking electric cars on the driveway. What's new in
2022? Last year's standard range model was renamed to rear wheel drive and received a new battery pack that uses lithium ion phosphate instead of nickel cobalt aluminum. Despite its lower energy density than previous battery packs, the estimated range of this entry-level model has increased to 272 miles. Even with long range trim, this year's estimated range is slightly increased to 358 miles on a single charge. The
rear-wheel drive model offers the best value, but its estimated 272 mile range may not be enough to relieve some rider's range anxiety. We recommend a long-range model with an estimated distance of 358 miles on a single charge. All Model 3s come standard with a heated front seat, navigation, and Tesla's autopilot semi-automatic driving system.Like most electric cars, the Model 3 accelerates smoothly and almost quietly, and the electric motor provides powerful power from a standing start. And it's fast – very fast at some trim levels. The rear-wheel drive long-range model we tested sprinted from 0 mph to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Model 3 performance accelerates to 100 km / h in just 3.5 seconds over the long-standing Model 3 long range. Like all Tesla, the Model 3 has a low center of gravity because it has a battery under the floor. This helps to change direction and feel stable when planted in sequence. The steering is accurate and heavy, and there are three different settings to adjust the steering force. The ride is not strict and solid. However, without the sound of the gas engine, you will hear a lot of noise in the cabin as the tires slap and extend range, charge and battery life.
Three different Model 3 trims are offered, each with a different estimation range. The rear-wheel drive model is the most affordable and is claimed to have a range of 272 miles. When you upgrade to a long-range or performance model, the Model 3's estimated distance increases to 315 miles in performance and 358 miles in the long range. Of course, achieving that distance is not easy, as we found in our long-term long-range Model 3 test vehicle. Model 3 offers multiple charging options. A network of Tesla fast charging stations called superchargers, adapters for public DC charging stations, 240V and 120V outlets, and household charging stations.
Fuel Economy and RealWorld MPGe
Various versions of Model 3 have been rated by the EPA from 113MPGe to 141MPGe. However, our test vehicle could only manage 84MPGe when participating in a highway fuel economy test at 75mph. Model 3 comes standard with aluminum wheels covered with aerodynamic hubcaps. I wanted to know how these hubcaps would affect the range of the car, so when I tested it, I was surprised that it worked better than I expected.
