Hi i am soundharya! All knows about the defense force of india but many of the people does not knows about the the secret intelligence agency the RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) . Here you will get everything about RAW and no other websites gives this much details. 

What is RAW ? 

India's foreign intelligence service is known as the Research and Analysis Wing (abbreviated R&AW; Hindi: ). The agency's main duties include acquiring foreign intelligence, combating terrorism and nuclear proliferation, offering policymakers in India advice, and furthering India's strategic interests abroad. Additionally, it contributes to the safety of India's nuclear programme.

Who is R.N.Kao? 

He is the head of the RAW. He is very intelligent and very excellent officer in the intelligence bureau of India. Why he is selected as the head of RAW? Let's see the reasons

Reasons for the selection of R. N. KAO as head

  1. Kashmir princess flight blast 

In 1955, April 11 the Kashmir princess flight was blasted. That flight consists of 11 passengers who were china delegates, 7 crew members and the captain D. K. Jatar

The pilot announced that flight is waiting fir a VIP [Zhou Enlai - people's Republic of China ].Late the pilot announced that flight us ready to take off as the VIP not arrived. 

The flight is take off from the Hongkong Airport to reach Indonesia. 

Delegations from China are travelling to indonesia to participate in the meeting held at Bandung. 

This was the meeting initiated by Jawaharlal Nehru and the P. M of Indonesia. So that newly independent nations maintain friendship and avoid siding with the U. S and Russia. 

China is also a newly independent country so they wanted to attend the meeting. 

This is an Indian flight. Firstly, China delegates travel from mumbai to Hongkong and then to Indonesia. 

5 hours (125 km ) before reaching Indonesia the flight is blasted and the 16 persons in the flight were died, 3 persons were saved. 

The flight accident happened because of the bomb blast. 

Questions raised? That who set off the bomb in the flight 

The chances are 

a) The U. S because of the lockheed-L 749 (kashmir princess flight) 

b) China

c) India because the flight take off from mumbai

d) Hongkong because it is under British during that time

The bomb is set off for the people's Republic of China Zhou Enlai

Zhou Enlai did not believe in Jongkong, Indonesia and the U. S. So he called Jawaharlal Nehru and wanted one person from India in order to inquiry of who set off the bomb in the flight. 

Jawaharlal Nehru sent R. N. Kao. Kao travelled to countries like Singapore, Philippines, China, Hongkong, America . Every details about the spy force of these countries were given to him. 

R. N. Kao detects that a person who expelled from China did this by combines with terrorists group in Hongkong and set off bomb for 60 pounds. 

China gave highest award of the country to R. N. Kao

2. Formation of intelligence agency in Ghana

Bhola Nath mallik, the head of the intelligence bureau, chose R. N. Kao to dispatch to China 

Kwame Nkrumah, the prime minister of Ghana (an African Nation) , visited India between 1957 and 1958 to request assistance in setting up an intelligence agency similar to that in India. 

Ghana gained independence from the British in 1957 and attended the submit in bandung. 

The name of the Nation before to Independence was Gold Coast. For their independence, an organization United Gold coast convention was established which was later Ghana. 

Nehru proposed a three-stage plan 

1.firstly, mullik will travel to your nation 

2.secondly , two people from your country will receive training in India. 

3. Thirdly, a person from India is sent to your country, to establish the spy agency. 

This agreement was accepted by the Ghanian P. M. 

R. N. Kao is chosen to be sent to Ghana

Kao studied the conditions in Ghana, gave locals training and established a Foreign Service Research Bureau for intelligence 

Kao was then invited by Nehru back to India 

Kinattinkara sankaran nair is sent to Ghana instead of Kao. 

Both Sankaran and Kao have never met and kai did not know the identity of the visitor to Ghana. 

But when Kao meet Sankaran, he revealed all of his personal information. 

Sankaran was aspired to vigilant like Kao . 

Upon his return to India, Kao joined in Nehru security force as the force commander. 

3.Report of R. N. Kao

Nepal and China had a dispute between 1959-60.

So, Nepal prime minister Dalai Lama, sought Nehru for assistance. 

Kao foresaw China turning a

gainst India and informed Mullik and Nehru of his prediction in a report. However thethey ignore the report. 

Soon the China declared a war on India in1962. 

India lost that conflict and thousands of men. 

Kao and numerous leaders were ashamed of it. 

4.Operation Gibraltar

In 1964,Nehru was died, after him Lal Bahadur shastri arrived at P. M. 

Pakistan declared a war on India in 1965 under the name “operation Gibraltar🇬🇮”

There were 30000 terrorists who invaded in India. 

India acknowledged the poor performance of it's spy agency.
