Solar Eclipse Decode Romance Behind The Event

There is love behind every fact in the solar eclipse not alone scientific, myths and superstitious facts alone come to know more about the Romance behind the Solar Eclipse

In a nutshell, the love story goes that the Sun and the Moon fell in love and travelled the world together. That is until the Moon betrayed the Sun and slept with the Morning Star. Since then, as punishment, the Moon and the Sun could never meet; the moon had to travel by night, and the sun by day. Now, please don’t hold me accountable for details, for I have not witnessed this, and there are many versions of the story (you know how people, earth and planets can gossip). But anyway, the betrayal and its consequences are the lists. :)

Me being a romantic and an optimist, I thought, “but there has to be a way for the former lovers to meet!.” Having pondered this for a while, the eclipse came to mind! Yes, the eclipse is the only brief moment when the sun covers the moon or vice-versa, and they can kiss for just a brief moment until they are forced to part ways again.

So here is my version of the Sun and Moon love story -Trinity

Sun and Moon

In unison, we traversed the sky,

There was no day; there was no night

We basked in each other’s loving light

To tears we laughed; of joy, we cried

In bliss, we welcomed our first dear child

— our heavenly bodies beaming with pride.

From then on three of us would by fate be tied

Us and our daughter, the Earth, our hearts’ delight.

Moon

When there was no difference between dark and light,

We often crossed paths with the Morning Star.

— Evening Star some call her, and she, wrapped in white,

Floats with graceful charm, a maiden of the Sky!

Like a star, always centre stage she takes

She looks like a swan in the heavenly lake —

Sun

Ah, get on with our story, or my heart will break

It pains me to remember how this affected the Earth

Moon

Indeed, the Star seduced me with her graceful charm

Or do I attract her by hovering around?

I saw no other light, heard no other sound,

I felt the Star and I to the centre prevailed committed.

Sun

And when God of Thunder and our realm

Literary of this transgression reality of your affair,

He punished us both; as if we both would depart

— Earth by day I could watch; and you when the night fell.

Sun attract

Eclipses are the only brief moments of bliss

When we enchant each other and even steal a kiss,

When was watching the Earth through the veil of mist

Then cloud art; apart, slaves of our myth, we drift….

The storytellers understood these stories from a variety of people and obtained their permission to tell these stories, sometimes travelling great distances to do so.

Although the stories may have humorous elements, we intend to respect the cultures of origin and their traditions.  We ask that discussions of the stories incorporate this respect

Solar Eclipse and Romance

Many cultures thought that the Sun was in a fight with its lover, the Moon! Others found a different kind of romantic explanation.

  • To the Australian Aborigines, the Sun was seen as a woman who carries a torch. The Moon, by contrast, was regarded as male. Because of the association of the lunar cycle with the female menstrual cycle, the Moon was linked with fertility. A solar eclipse was interpreted as the Moon-man uniting with the Sun-woman.
  • In German mythology, the hot female Sun and cold male Moon were married. The Sun ruled the day, and the sleepy Moon ruled the night. Seeking companionship, the Moon was drawn to his bride and they came together—thus, a solar eclipse.
  • Some Native Americans drew on a similar concept: that a solar eclipse was a visit of companions.
  • West Africans of Benin switch the gender roles of the Sun and Moon and suggest that the orbs are very busy, but when they do get together, they turn off the light for privacy.
  • In Tahitian myth, the orbs are lovers who join up —providing an eclipse—but get lost in the moment and created stars to light their return to normalcy.

Many countries follow the Solar Eclipse Romance, Do share your Romance yet love has both painful and joyful Memories, to say about.
