In the last blog, 3D printing in electronics was discussed. In this blog, applications of 3D printing technology will be enlisted which are as follows:
3D printing is not an art but a technology adapted by artists as a tool that changes ideas in an artwork. From a sketch or artistic photography with the help of software installed on the computer, a sculptor can be created using 3D printing. Both commercial and fine arts artists use it as an experiment and experience. Showcasing cartoon characters live, the personal photograph with a 3D look, or 3D models is one example of 3d printing.
Prototyping of building concept models to building structures, the estimated idea and concept can be put forth from the architect's point of view via 3D printing. On other hand, in terms of interiors, small decorative furnishes could be illustrated as a suggestive theme-based concept.
3D food printing is based on food technology used for manufacturing food products using various addictive manufacturing methods. It gives new choices like automatic cooking, personalized nutrition, and a decrease in food wastage. It's safe to eat, and norms are followed for the creation of food. Some of the examples are 3D sweets chocolates, Pizza, pancakes, pastries, etc.
3D printing in the medical and healthcare industry are led to new treatments and methods. It is used for making new surgical tools and creating prosthetics as well as patient-related replicas of bones, organs, blood vessels, etc. This technology is the cost-effective and low volume in production. 3D imaging, 3D - bioprinting, 3D digital dentistry, and 3D printed pills are also included in medical 3D printing.
In the Fashion industry, many designers and brands are looking forward with 3D textile printing technologies. 3D printed clothing, and 3D knitting is the part of clothing in the fashion industry. Collections of outfits or garments are made with help of fabric design concepts, and patterns and sustainable cloth produced can be reused and recycled as per the needs. Some small-end accessories and garments can also be created through 3D printing. It is also used in sports aesthetics-related companies (For eg: Camper & Adidas) such as sportswear, shoes, etc.
Jewelers can use 3D printing by designing the designs digitally and casting the mold for the creation of desired patterns using CAD software tools. Complex designs can be easily created through 3D printing. The jewelry can be created through two types namely, investment casting and direct printing.
3D printing is used by carmakers for making automotive parts to check the form and fit. This type of application uses rapid prototyping, creating custom, high-performance parts and complex car parts like wheels, spare parts, etc. 3D printing is also used for manufacturing aids and producing tools, designing jigs and fixtures.
Construction 3D printing is used for manufacturing elements or to construct the whole building using the 3D printer for printing polymers, concrete, metals, or any other materials layer-by-layer. New designs are possible, lesser labor costs, faster and safer construction, and reduction in waste production are some of the beneficial results achieved using concrete 3D printing.
3D printing in aerospace has a faster built time for creating machine parts like cockpit materials, cascades, landing gear, and engineering materials used in aircraft. Using this technology designers and engineers can create products at various stages of the design workflow. Many parts can be created in a short period, based on the designs finalized. 3D printing can be used in printing parts of satellites.
