G7 is a term used to describe a group of seven nations. It is a group of seven countries that have the largest and most advanced economies in the world. Their political leaders come together annually to discuss important global economic, political, social, and security issues.
The following are the seven members of the group:
The European Union is also represented at the G7 summit.
Recently the G7 summit took place in Carbys Bayin the United Kingdom. India, Australia, South Africa and South Korea were also invited as guest countries. India proposed one nation one health policy to deal with the corona pandemic. India suggested opening up the export chain of vaccine raw materials and also talked about the patent waiver of the vaccine. Germany and France openly accepted India's suggestions.
India informed the G7 countries that India is the only country among G20 countries to have effectively implemented the Paris climate policy. Amidst all these discussions, one thing was very surprising that the US directly criticised China on many issues such as the origin of the corona virus, China's unilateral stand in the South China Sea and the breach of democratic freedom in Hong Kong. In addition all G7 countries mutually agreed to distribute 1 billion vaccines to poor countries in Africa. Us President JOE BIDEN also announced a $12 trillion fund for the global pandemic recovery plan. The US said that it would encounter China's Belt and Road Initiative Policy with all G7 countries. Here India did not immediately support the policy and put it up for further discussion. In return China posted a statement that according to them, the power of G7 countries in the current scenario was not as effective as in 1975. Now many countries like Russia and China themselves became powerful, which were not part of G7 summit.
Currently, the government will be expected to speak out on its commitments on G-7 outreach, particularly in the areas of information technology clampdown, given that India had the highest number of internet shutdowns in 2020.
