Indian Army
The main and land-based branch of the Indian Armed Forces is the Indian Army. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) is the professional head of the Indian Army, which is headed by the President of India. Together with the East India Company's long-standing presidency armies, which were merged into the Indian Army in 1903, the Indian Army was founded on April 1, 1895. 

The land component of the Armed Forces of the Crown of India, which is in charge of defending the Indian Empire, was made up of the Imperial Service Troops, which were maintained by a few princely states in addition to the Indian Army.Following independence, the Imperial Service Troops were integrated into the Indian Army.

The ten commissioned officer (officer) ranks in the Army are the same as the All India Services and are referred to as Group-A service ranks. 

The Field Marshal, a ceremonial five-star position that is immediately above to the General, a four-star rank, is the highest rank that may be attained in the Army's officer corps.

India's most deadly special force is called MARCOS. MARCOS commandos are extraordinarily skilled in sea combat, despite having received training to fight on all types of terrain.

The Indian Army's primary duties include preserving peace and security inside Indian borders, safeguarding the country's security and unity, and carrying out rescue operations in the event of natural catastrophes and calamities.

A division is the fundamental field formation of the Indian Army, which is split into seven commands based on geography and operations. Permanent regiments, which are in charge of their own recruitment and training, are positioned below the division level. 

More over 80% of the nation's active defense personnel are in the army, an entirely voluntary force. It is the largest standing army in the world,with 1,237,117 active personnel and 960,000 reserve forces.
