Childhood days are precious. All of us experience of same kinds of up-downs during childhood irrespective of country. Don't believe about statement ?That's what this book blog is about.
Diary of a wimpy kid is series of diaries penned by Jeff Kinney. Owner of this diary Gregory Huffley, is a middle school kid narrates his day to day life. His diaries are written in illustration format. Total 15 book are published till date (16th one is set to publish on 26 October 2021) and all of them are hilarious.
The red colored book is the first one among the series. Within his first few pages of diary Greg made it clear that he don't want write just because his mother forced him .He thought one day he will be a successful person and people would like to know about his childhood days so at that time he can hand them over these diaries as he won't be having much time to entertain people around him.Clear thinking indeed.
Then we come to know about his family. His dad who is mostly on business trips, his mom, head of the family who want Gregory to take interest in each and every new thing she came across and forcing him to participate in activities he is least interested which sometimes lead to pure chaos , His older brother Rodrick, with whom he has Tom and Jerry relations and his younger brother Manny who never let go any chance to annoy his elder brothers and parents.
As diary proceeded, he tells about his school and according to him how dumb this idea of middle school is, His classmates, teachers and best friend Rowley Jefferson. He is around 10 year old kid so you know what kind of huge tension he may have. School assignments, surprise tests, scolding by teachers, facing bullies in school, messing things in school and home, participating in school actives, messing with neighbors, becoming partner in crime with Rodrick, occasionally participating in charity work and handling parents when he and his siblings are about to get punished.
Some books narrates his summer and Xmas vacations and fun they had during those time of the year. Each book has theme around which his diary revolves and we can relate all situations he went through as we might have experienced some of those incidence. I laughed hard while reading all books.
Each book is around 100-120 pages plus illustrations makes interesting read. People who want to start reading but don't want to go for heavy stuff this book is for you. This series is also good birthday gift for kids of age group 8 -12. Make sure you read that book before gifting it .I am very sure you will automatically start hunting for next book of the series.
