A Solar Storm Will Hit Earth

It has been reported that the particle cloud that started from the sun like a storm will hit the earth tomorrow on the 31st. There is no harm to the people or the environment.

But countless satellites orbiting the Earth, communications, power distribution grids, etc. are likely to be affected.

This is not the first time a solar storm has hit Earth. This has happened countless times in the past.

Solar storms are caused by dark spots on the Sun. Dark spots occur naturally on the face of the sun. The slightly cooler areas on the surface of the Sun appear as dark spots when viewed from Earth.

Sunburn occurs when there are too many dark spots on the sun. During such outbursts, large masses of gas are ejected from the Sun. This mass of gas in the form of plasma is composed mostly of electrons and protons.

This mass ejection from the Sun is called a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). However, some scientists describe this as the sun "belching". The weight of this mass may be several hundred million tons. During the current solar storm, the gas mass was ejected on December 28.

This mass of gas can be thrown in any direction from the Sun. Sometimes it comes towards the earth. Depending on the velocity of the gas mass, it can reach Earth in about three days. Then it hits the part of the earth facing the sun.

Various Earth orbiting satellites, GPS satellites, and the International Space Station orbiting the Earth are likely to be attacked. That is, the effect is like a sudden high-voltage electric current. So the instruments on the satellites are put out of action when the gas masses are coming because the instruments on the satellites will fail.

The electrical grid on the ground may be affected. This can happen especially in countries beyond the Earth's equator. In 1989, there was a blackout in a part of Canada, leaving people without power for several hours.

At times, an eye-catching sky display known as aurora can be seen. This is due to particles from the sun. It is most visible during solar storms. Also, this scene can be seen in the sky in countries near the Earth's equator.

Then it starts increasing again and reaches a peak. In this way, once in 11 years the sun's dark spots reach their peak. It is only when it reaches its peak that the Sun becomes furious. The gas is thrown away. When there are no black spots, the sun remains calm.
