In our life time, we all might have faced some sort of digestion problem, whether big or small. While most issues won't bother us, some are persistent enough to gain our attention. And a family history simply add on to your sufferings.
I used to think that youngsters aren't affected by digestion issues. Imagine, your stomach is like a giant grinder, which has the power to digest anything we add on to it.
But that's not the case. All of us are different in someway or the other. Our lifestyle has a crucial role on our state of health. How we eat, what we eat, how much we eat...all these matters.
If you are just swallowing your food without chewing properly, well, there goes the reason for your bloated stomach. Swallowing partially chewed food causes gas formation in your stomach. Having a glass of ginger-lemon tea relives bloated stomach.
Now, what we eat! Whatever your food habits are, try to add more fibre content in it. Having more fibre needs drinking more water. Reduce intake of fried foods and artificial sugar. As for how much we eat, "Ikigai_the Japanese secret to a long and happy life" says you should only fill 60% of your stomach.
Many of us won't follow any of these. If so, at least try to walk an hour daily. It helps.
And stay hydrated.
Some are sensitive towards certain foods. But, as we all know, when it comes to our favourite things to eat, food sensitivity goes flying out the window. An itty-bitty amount of care and limitation will save you from diarrhea and other serious health issues.
Track yourself and find out what food suits you and what doesn't. Most importantly, DON'T rest immediately after having food, especially after dinner. Let's start from these simple steps.
Cooking takes time and patience. Digestion is not different from it. It takes proper time for food to be digested. One thing that hinder proper digestion is Stress. Have you noticed constant diarrhea during stressful situations? That's because in some people, food is passed too quickly through the digestive tract without proper digestion and incomplete nutrient intake.
Stress affects people differently. Some may experience bloating, pain and constipation because stress slows their digestion. Stress can also worsen digestive conditions such as stomach ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. Stress management helps you to tackle many more unwanted diseases.
We live to eat. But eating is not the end of it. I remember hearing from somewhere, 'Food is love and eating is bae.' But improper digestion is the villain with devil horns that causes breakup with your actual love interest, that is your health.
So, eat healthy, stay healthy and be aware of what's healthy.
