India has evolved but the superstitions still prevail. Not only in the remote areas but also in metropolitan cities.
Let's have a look at a few superstitions that we Indians believe in :((
1.Black cat crosses your path.
Superstition: If a black cat crosses your path you should not go ahead cause it will bring in bad luck.
Remedy: Choose a different path altogether or let someone else pass that path.

2. Cutting your nails after sunset.

3. Breaking of a mirror.
Superstition: If a mirror breaks, it's considered a bad omen and brings you bad luck for the next 7 years.
Remedy: Be careful with the mirror.
Reality: The life span of the mirror is over. So it's dead :|
4. Overflowing of milk while its boiling.
Superstition: If the milk overflows while boiling then it brings in good luck.
Remedy: Do it on purpose to gain luck?
Reality: My mom shouts at me everytime this happens because the milk is wasted.
5. Touch Wood.
Superstition: Something bad happens then touch the wood and it reverses.
Remedy: Have atleast one wooden furniture in the house to touch.
Reality: I honestly don't know how it works.
6. Breaking of a utensil.
Superstition: Breaking of a utensil is considered good. It brings in luck.
Remedy: Break one on purpose?
Reality: While washing the utensils, it may so happen that it slips out of your hand and break, right?
7. Cross your fingers.
Superstition: It brings in luck and the result might be in your favor.
Remedy: Just cross your finger when something big is about to happen
Reality: This comes from the Christian mythology. 2 people locked their index finger and apparently things turned out in their favour. So, it continued and now people can do it alone. 2 people are not required for the same.
Alas! Even after knowing it's a superstition we tend to do it subconsciously because it has been imbibed in us. Hopefully we will be able to unlearn these and accept the practical approach.
P.S. I don't have anything against Superstitious people. It's a belief system and everybody has a choice regarding what they wish to believe. I have no intention of offending anyone.
