Friends From Enemies...

True love is rare to find but true friendship is rarer…

My best friend and I had joined school together but were in different sections and houses. Although we knew about each other's existence, we weren't really close initially. Our friendship began with enmity. This was when we were in class 6th and had the same 3rd language. Apparently our names are the same and coincidently both of us had written only our first names on our 3rd language book. My teacher had mistakenly taken my book about which I wasn't aware. I started looking for my book a day before my test and on not finding it, I went to each class searching for it, on seeing my name on my friend's book(as her name is the same), I thought she had taken my book. I got so mad at her that I complained about her to her house mistress. She was scolded really harsh even though she wasn't at fault(I didn't know that initially)

After my test, my teacher returned my book and apologized for taking it, that is when I realized how wrong I had been. I felt so guilty but didn't have the guts to see her. She tells me now how she really hated me back then because of this incident. Honestly, I don't clearly remember how we were after that but soon she joined Table Tennis and we came to be known as the “SHREYAs”. Our sports time played a major role in molding our friendship. I remember the infinite Saturdays we spent walking in the basketball court, talking endlessly about random things after sports time.

We attended tournaments together, bonded through unexpected moments. I didn't even realize when and how, she became an integral part of my life. She always full of life, so lively and enthusiastic which is why we call each other creepy and climby where she is climby and I am creepy. She is really smart,(she takes science so that is kind of obvious). She is very supportive of me and I always feel at ease after talking to her. She has often helped me with my studies and each moment with her id so much fun. She has never failed to make me laugh in the worst of my moods.

She had helped in during my board practical as she is an amazing artist. I too had spent an entire day just sitting next to her when she was completing her art portfolio. Even though I had no role, it felt good to just accompany her. Over time she has become more than a friend to me, she is no less than family to me. I feel my eyes brim with tears every time I think of the moment we parted on the last day of school. I haven't met her in person since the last 3 years however we have kept in touch through video calls and texts.

I wish to meet her soon so that I can once again hear “The SHREYAs”
