Ras Al Hamra stands south of Ras Al Khaimah.  This area, which was ruled by the Al Saab tribe, Ras Al Khaimah, and following the dispute, Abu Dhabi took over the issue and relocated the residents of the area to Abu Dhabi.  This is an area where abandoned houses and churches are now standing.  This place is famous as a haunted area.  Al Rums is located 25 km north of Ras Al Khaimah.  Khattum is a mountainous village area in Ras Al Khaimah.  These are the ones who have tried many times for the status of Trucial States.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the coral trade was the source of employment and income for the people.  World War I, the economic depression of the 1920s and 1930s, and Japan's discovery of man-made coral put a damper on this.  After the Second World War, the collapse was complete when the newly formed India imposed terrible taxes on coral imported from Arab countries.

In 1955, Britain sided with Abu Dhabi in a dispute with Saudi Arabia over the Buraimi oasis on the Abu Dhabi border with Oman.  The Sdi Abu Dhabi border dispute continues to this day.

Al Buraimi Oasis consists of 7 villages.  Al Ain, Al Jaheli, Al Qattarah, Al Muwaiji, Al Hill, Al Masoudi, Al Muhterd (ruled by Abu Dhabi) Hamas, Zara Buraimi also rule Oman.

The town of Al Buraimi was held by Oman from 600 to 700 AD.  From 1800-1950, the Al Nuimi tribe rebuilt and ruled the town.  Sheikh Zayed, the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, was born and raised in Al Ain.  Since 1761, Abu Dhabi has been ruled by the current dynasty, the Al Abu Falah dynasty.  In 1949, the Saudi royal family claimed Al Ain by showing tax documents.  The Aramco company also supported it on the assumption that there was oil.  In 1952, the Saudi emir of Ras al-Tanura occupied Hamas with 80 soldiers.  The Sultan and Imam of Oman sent troops to drive them out, but the British intervened and averted a war.  British troops surrounded Buraimi.  Saudi tried to convince many people by paying bribes but failed.  Britain withdrew from the case accusing it of trying to influence the International Court of Justice in Geneva through bribery.  Weeks later, the Omani forces captured the Saudi invaders and smuggled them into Saudi Arabia via Sharjah.  The issue was settled by the Jeddah Agreement of 1974.

The Indian rupee was abandoned as the currency of these countries in 1969 with the devaluation of the Indian rupee.

After the discovery of oil in 1960, Sheikh Zayed became the ruler of Abu Dhabi in 1966.  In 1966, with America growing up, Britain announced that it would not be able to continue providing aid to all 7 provinces.  Sheikh Zayed assembled all the sheikhs and appointed Adi Bidar, Abu Dhabi's legal adviser, as an advisor to the Trucial States Council.  In 1968 the rulers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai met in Al Ghoob Al Sedira and accepted the union in principle and invited the other sheikhdoms to join.  In the first phase, Bahrain and Qatar were on the council along with 7 provinces.  There was dispute over the capital, the constitution and the division of ministers.  The 9 sheikhs met in four assemblies and elected the ruler of Abu Dhabi as president.  Qatar and Bahrain had a dispute over the Hawas Islands.  The ruler of Dubai, who had ties to the rulers of Qatar and Abu Dhabi, abandoned talks with Qatar and Bahrain.  There was no movement in the Vice-President, Defense and Constitution decisions.  Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Britain tried, but Bahrain withdrew from the Council in August 1971 and Qatar in September 1971.

With the end of the truce, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm al-Khaiwan, and Fujairah also came forward to join the union.  On December 2, the draft administration was implemented and the agreement was signed.  Ras Al Khaimah also joined the Union on 10 February 1972 after Iran annexed the Tumb Islands.

After the terrorist attacks in the United States, the UAE is taking strong measures against extremism.  In 1994 the United States and in 1995 France signed military agreements.  Al Dhafra Air Base outside Abu Dhabi has been handed over to the US for operations against terrorism in Africa.

In 2004, when the first president Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan passed away, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan took over as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE.  When Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE, died in January 2006, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid took over both positions.  All the rulers take care of the affairs of Emiratis and diaspora people along with the development of the country.

In the December 2006 elections held in the UAE, half of the members of the UAE Federal National Council were elected from among 450 candidates.  But only one percent of Emiratis have been given the right to vote.
