Even though there is a corona all over the country 12th class marks are very crucial for students' higher studies. The Central Government has opted to conduct Class XII board examinations by reducing the examination time from 3 hours to half an hour.  By June 1st, the government will announce the final decision and clarity will also give in the case of examination procedure and timetable. A high-level meeting chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was held on Sunday regarding the conduct of board examinations. It was attended by Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal, Smriti Irani and Prakash Javadekar as well as Education Ministers and senior officials of various states and Union Territories.

CBSE came up with two proposals

The meeting was also attended by CBSE representatives. The Board has proposed two alternatives concerning the conduct of Board Examinations. According to the first procedure the examination process is completed in a total period of three months. Pre-exam activities will be conducted in the first month. After two months of administration of the examination, the result Allocated to the head revelation. After that compartment tests will be conducted in another month. The duration of the test is 3 hours as in the old method. The examination will be conducted in major subjects only. Marks are given to minor subjects based on the marks obtained in these. According to the second alternative, the duration of each test is only an hour and a half. Tests are conducted for 19 major subjects. The Tests in one language paper and three elective subjects. Marks will be allotted to other subjects based on marks obtained in these subjects. Tests are conducted only in limited centres. Students can write the exams at the school where they are studying. Tests will be in two phases across the country. This is decided depending on the corona conditions in different states. The first phase exams will be held between July 15 - August 1 and the second phase exams will be held between August 8-26. Objective, short answer type questions are given. The results will be announced by September 5. The central government is leaning towards the second approach proposed by CBSE. The centre said state boards can formulate their policy. Union Education Minister Pokhriyal asked the states to send their views in detail by tomorrow.

Most of the states also showing interest to conduct exams

There were differences of opinion from different states regarding the board examinations. However, it is known that most of the states are inclined towards conducting examinations. Maharashtra, however, has asked the Center to think of an alternative that does not require tests. The states of Delhi and Kerala are of the view that tests should be conducted after students have been vaccinated. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said that the third wave of the corona is the highest risk for under-18s, so students should be vaccinated.

Tamil Nadu government said that it would conduct class 12 examinations after decreased corona intensity in the state. Dame Melani Karnataka believes that the 12th standard is very important for students. The states of Odisha and Punjab have said that the health of students and teachers should be given priority and examinations should be conducted speedily. On the other hand, the Chattisgarh government on Sunday decided to allow class 12 exams to be written from home. Earlier, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had demanded the cancellation of board exams. It was suggested that it was inappropriate to pressure students to decide with the welfare of the students in mind.

According to my opinion, it would be better to conduct exams after the downpour of coronavirus cases in the country.
