Boost Your Body Immunity

The world is facing a pandemic i.e., COVID-19, a global health crisis due to various reasons. It has spread very quickly to various countries and still kept on spreading worldwide. So, it is quite essential therefore to boost immninity of our body naturally to combat the ill effects of COVID-19 virus because an individual's immunity is directly proportional to nutritional status and lifestyle of that individual. A healthy immune system play a role of saviour in COVID period. It is the only possible way to prevent the fatality of the pandemic.

There are various ways to improve immunity of body at home and no need to visit the doctor on frequent basis by focusing on the nutrition and lifestyle. Some of the foods that help in building immunity of body are:

  1. Citrus food - Vitamin C rich citrus fruits help in increasing production of white blood cells (WBCs). These cells are the one that fights the infections and provide protection to body. Eat oranges, lime, lemon, grapes, etc.
  2. Leafy green vegetables - They are abundant source of beta carotene which causes reduction in inflammation and increase in lymphocytes.
  3. Antioxidants rich foods - Antioxidants are essential for building up the immune system. So, intake of antioxidant rich food like onion, garlic, pumpkin, carrot, etc are highly recommended.
  4. Food with prebiotics -  It contains high amount of fiber in them. It is present in asparagus, green banana, etc.

Besides nutrition, active lifestyle also contributes in improving the immune system. Some healthy activities are :

  • Exercise - It has various benefits. It reduces the stress hormones from body. It refines the circulation of WBCs. Most importantly, it boosts the immune system. And in this way, it keeps infection away from the body.
  • Yoga - It increases flexibility of body as well as strengthen the body from inside.
  • Dance - It will keep a check on mood swings and anxiety. Thus, maintains good mental health.

Some important tips :

  1.  Improve diet, take supplements and immunity boosting foods.
  2. Exercise daily and keep body active.
  3. Keep body hydrated and free from toxins.
  4. Take enough sleep for 7-8 hours.
  5. Practice meditation.
  6. Drink warm water throughout the day.
  7. Avoid smoking and alcohol.
  8. Maintain good hygienic habits. Wash your hands properly on regular basis. Adopt the habit of using sanitizer and mask when going outside.
  9. Drink herbal tea or โ€˜kadaโ€™.
  10. Do not unnecessarily step out of the house.
