Hello, how are you all?i hope you all good. Thanks for all for ur presence.do yopu like micro?thank you.

Ignaz semmelwis(1818-65)was a hungarian physician who first demonstrated the importance of disinfection. He proved that hand wash with chlorinated lime reduced the number of death during the delivery in the hospital in which he worked.

Joseph Lister(1827-1912)is considered the father of anti sepsis. He was a scottish surgeon and used phenol as disinfectant during surgery that reduced the post operative infection.Even thoughm the phenol is no more used during surgery, his concept of disinfection has been used to prevent hospital-acquired infection.

Paul Ehrlich(1854-1915)is a german scientist and known as the father of chemotherapy. His important contribution to micro biology are listed below:

→He introduced the methods of staining of cells and tissues.

→He identified the acid fastness of tubercule bacillus.

→He introduced the concept of minimum lethal dose and developed the methods of standardization of toxin and antitoxin.

→He introduced the side chain theory of antibody production.

→He developed an arsenical compound, salvarsan, which was popularly referred as the magic bullet which was capable of destroying the spirochete causing syphilis.

Fleming:1929 made the accidental discovery that the fungus penicillium produces a substance that destroys staphylococci.Work on this at Oxford by florey, chain and their team during the second World war led to this isolation of the active substance penicillin and it's subsequent mass production. This was the beginning of the antibiotics era.Other similar antibiotics were discovered in rapid succession. With the sudden availability of a wide range of antibiotics with potent anti bacterial activity. It was hoped that bacterial infection would be controlled with in a short period. But soon the development of drug resistance in bacteria presented serious difficulties.

With the development of a wide variety of antibiotics active against the whole spectrum of pathogenic bacteria, and of effective vaccine against most viral disease, expectations were raised about the eventual elimination of all infectious disease. The global eradication of small pox inspired visions of similar campaign against other major pestilence.how ever when new infectious disease began to appear caused by hitherto unknown micro organisms or by known microbes producing novel manifestation it was realised that controlling microbes was a far more difficult task than was imagined. The climax came in 1981 when AIDS was identified in the USA and began its pandemic spread.unceasing vigil is essential protect human from microbes.
