Kumara Parvatha is situated in the western ghats of Karnataka. At the foothills lies an ancient and famous temple called Kukke Subramanya.
Kumara Parvatha or Pushpagiri is the name of the peak which is hidden most of the time and visible only after crossing Shesha Parvatha, but the entire trail is popularly known as Kumara Parvatha trek. The trek covers a distance approximate of 30 kms and is usually done over 2 days.
This trek has so much to offer - with the dense forest to vast green landscapes to small streams of waterfalls. Western ghats are nature's best preserved secret. The views are absolutely breathtaking.
Trail Information :
The entire trek can be divided into 3 sections.
Day1: Forest section till Bhattara mane or Forest office
Day2 : Bhattara mane to Shehsha parvatha and Shesha parvatha to Kumara parvatha peak.
Starting the trek by entering into the forest through small gate which leads to rock pathways to walk on.The trail is very well marked and it follows the trail which takes you deeper into dense forest.
Must Tip : Keep the water bottles handy and get some energy booster candys along the way.
First sight point which is about after 4 kms which is Bheemana rock. Rest for few mins and can carry on the trek.
After few walks again we reach the end if the forest section and green lands in hand which takes almost 5.3p pm to reach there admist the rains along.
From here about 1 km far, we reach bhattara mane and we have the beautiful view points to capture on. Upon heading to the Bhattara mane they would provide you with the lunch and dinner with the minimum amount of 150 each.
Resting the day here, exploring and admiring the views around, resting in the tents we carried would be all that we wanted through out the trek.
Next day hike to the summit and to enter the forest premises the entry fee is Rs 350 per head and strictly no plastic! This fee includes trekking fee, maintenance fee and camping fee as well.
Starting the next day early, we are in the grasslands now. With the vast unending view of greenery, to the thick patches of forest. Upon some distance we reach the Kallu Mantapa which is nearly after 2 kms of trek. Scenic beauty around Capture some pics here.
As we get closer to Shesha Parvatha we see vast green valley alone with the steep rock face of shesha to our right. Claiming the views of surrounding western ghats would be amazing to watch. Once reaching here, difficult part of the trek is done
Now continuing to the further, there is steep and slippery path due to mud and gravel. Here we need to be extra careful as there will be slippery rock and wet surface topping the rocks.
Once reaching there, after 20 mins of trek will reach Kumara Parvatha Peak also called as Pushpagiri peak.
Spending time at the peak, a small man made temple to pray and relax your feets there, you will get full view of the western ghats.
Personal touch :
This trek was very difficult and very overwhelming also, because of the difficulties we faced and it was life learning with the passion achieve the peak was most challenging. After the trek almost felt absolute happiness with no luxury around.
