Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well. Welcome to another blog on health and lifestyle.

Sleep is an important part of our routine but due to our lifestyle and schedule, our sleep is getting affected the most. We keep on doing our work and sometimes we just binge watch a series or just keep on scrolling the social media and sleep late at night and as a result we wake up late too. If we have any work so we have to get up early and we do not get enough sleep. If a person consumes a balanced diet, drinks enough water and does exercise regularly but he is not getting adequate sleep then it can effect his health and cause some issues like anger, irritation, mood swings etc. Here are some negative effects that are caused by sleep deprivation in the body-

Irregular menstrual cycle- Due to sleep deprivation, problems related to menstruation such as irregular periods, spotting or heavy flow can occur. While on period, a woman should have enough sleep. Lack of sleep can effect the immune system of the body and this can increase the chances of infection.

Obesity- Sleep deprivation makes our body tired and lazy. Because of this, people start to eat irregularly and gain weight. And the other reason is that the people who sleep for less hours, their physical activity and exercise is also effected.

Harmful for heart- According to a journal, sleep deprivation increases the chances to heart related problems. Lack of sleep is also a contributing factor in diseases like coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure etc.

Diabetes- Not getting enough sleep can increase the chances of diabetes because the hormone that controls the sugar level of the blood is not controlled aptly. It decreases the gluten tolerance and insulin production.

Effect on mental health- If a person is not sleeping enough then it might have a negative effect on his mental health as well. Any person suffering from some kind of mental disorder has sleep related issues.

Therefore, try to maintain a schedule. Give yourself some screen free time before sleeping. Our work is important but we can't ignore our health as Health is Wealth. Know the how screen effects our sleep.
