"Procrastination", as the term is commonly used by us is the act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute. It is one of the main reasons why more than half the people are stopped from getting up and making the right decisions important to put life on track. It acts as a barrier to providing a healthy life for oneself.

When one procrastinates they miss out on some of the opportunities that may come their way.

The people who procrastinate cannot be termed as mere lazy, procrastinators have the desire to work for something but lack the motivation to start that activity. It is actually a situation where one has the desire to achieve but lacks the motivation to work for it.

Procrastination is often thought of as a psychological problem. A phenomenon called “time inconsistency”, a concept of behavioral psychology is what helps one understand procrastination in a better way.

A person often procrastinates as human brain understandsthe value of immediate rewards and regards them highly whereas the importance of future rewards is seldom understood.

If one wants to stop procrastinating the best way is to trust oneself, exhibit confidence, take risks and move ahead. Procrastination also has a sense of self deception. The ones who procrastinate often are the ones who do their tasks with utmost perfection and dedication. The thought of not doing a task well with perfection leads them to start procrastinating and drives them to put off that activity. These people are often concerned with what other people would think of their working style or what judgement they will have of them and often leads them to miss out on golden opportunities.
