I mean on a serious note, I wanted to write something on this topic for a long time. But I wasn't convinced that how would it go through peoples' mind. But today I am finally writing this.
Hey everyone my name is Vibhu & Welcome to a “Knowledge sharing” post about ”Over-Motivation". Let's start this now.
I mean there is no doubt about the fact that we all need motivation in our life. Motivation is something which keeps us get going. It also works as an Energy-Fuel for us, like whenever we are about to give up on something or we are broken inside it makes us stand again. But here I am going to discuss an untouched portion of motivation that is “Too Much Motivation” , Yes, Have you ever thought about it?
The term ‘Negative’ doesn't mean something bad or something which is not right. Here negative denotes the excess of something. But how? How could negative denote excess? Let me explain this to you.
See negative motivation isn't something like you are motivated to do something negative or bad. It is just a term which means the negative impact of motivation or rather ‘Too much motivation’.
I know most of you have never thought about this side of motivation. But do remember I am talking about ‘too much motivation or negative motivation’ which I explained you above. Do consider the word ‘too much’.
Here I am listing some of the aspects affected by this & then we will talk about them one by one, It affects :
See, have you ever noticed that once you start developing interest towards finding motivation for something, it keeps on coming again and again to you. Yes, it is the psychology that hits you to find motivation again and again. And when you get habitual of it you start seeking motivation for even smaller things which is unnecessary & also impacts adversely on your mind because whenever you do so your body releases some chemicals like Endorphins, Oxytocin & Dopamine etc which in turn interferes with other chemical machinery of body if over done.
We all know that humans are complex living beings made of interactive molecules or the hormones. And in above case we have seen how over motivation impacts negatively the chemical machinery of the body. So, a long term process like this also reflects in our behaviour like when we keep on looking for motivation, our mind prepares itself to look for it again and again & if something beyond our control happens with us, it impacts our behaviour & emotions negatively.
See we have to understand that some things are beyond our control & we have to accept it. We have to work in right direction and use the motivation to do things which are possible & logical. One can not pull the moon with a rope just because he/she is motivated and enthusiastic enough. We have to work in right direction & if we don't do that then definitely the enthusiastic portion of mind gets affected by on and on failures in darkness.
Yes, the biggest drawback of over motivation or ‘Negative-Motivation’ what I have observed is development of procrastination in us. It is the state of mind when someone starts developing dreams on false grounds and feels as if they are achievable. Also the amount of hard work & consistency required is not given while doing that work because it is the motivation that occupied the area as if something goes wrong it will take care of.
Sometimes the motivational part allows us to do something which is unnecessary. I am not saying that it happens always but if you over do motivation then surely motivation will over do you too. Also sometimes false hopes (Mirage) are developed in us which is too dangerous when we realise about that, are also the result of negative/over motivation.
I am no way saying that motivation is bad, infact we all need a driving force to get going. So we must keep ourselves motivated but also keep in mind that there is thin line between motivation & over-motivation.
Always Remember,
“De-motivation is bad, Motivation is good but Over-Motivation is the worst”.
