Hello friends,here are some interesting facts about our world wonder Taj Mahal.

1. The Taj Mahal was created by Emperor Shahjahan for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Shahjahan was the 5th mugal emperor and ruled from 1628-1658 .when his third and favourite wife ,mumtaz Mahal died, Shahjahan he was so overwhelmed with grief that he wanted to build Taj Mahal as a testament of his undying love for her.
There are several other mousoleum s outside the taj,but inthe same complex,where Shahjahan' s other
Wives and favourite servants are buried showing a level of thoughtfulness to them too.

2. Shahjahan wanted to build a black taj for himself .
Black taj also known as kala taj or second taj is said to have been built across the yamuna river directly opposite to the Taj mahal. Shahjahan wanted to bulid black thaj as a tomb for himself and connected to Taj mahal with a bridge.many people believes that archeologist cannot find any evidence of black taj beacuse son of Shahjahan who overthrew and imprisoned him,had it torn down.

3.it took 20years and 20000 workers to build Taj.
The artisans who helped in the construction of work wonder hailed from different countries and regions including central Asia, Syria, turkey and Iran.the rumour that Shahjahan had the artisans hands cut off to ensure that they could never replicate such a feat never again remain a myth,as no proof supports this claim exists.It appears that the workers are not paid well but also respected for their skills that were necessary to build Taj Mahal.

4.To seek revenge on Shah Jahan, the workers made a hole in the roof.so they could exact revenge op f Shah Jahan, and the structure could not endure long because of it; the waterfalls were straight on Mumtaz's grave during the rain because of this hole.

5.1000 elephants were used to transport building materials to Agra.

6.28 types of precious and colourful stones were used such as orange carnelian blue lapis lazuli,blood stone,multi coloured agates ,chalcedonie and garnet.
Many precious stones were stripped off and taken by the British army during the Indian mutiny of1857.

7.The Taj Mahal is made of wood that has to be moist to stay strong.If the Yamuna River did not run alongside the Taj Mahal, the wood would rot.
Let me tell you that this wood absorbs the river's water.So, if the river Yamuna did not exist, the Taj Mahal would have collapsed by now.

8.To safeguard Mumtaz Mahal's crypt, Chief Architect Ustad Lahauri slightly slanted the towers in order to avoid causing harm to the remainder of the Taj Mahal.

9.Taj Mahal's colour changes constantly throughout the day.- yellow at the time of sunrise and deep blue at night.

10.for the cleaning treatment,a traditional recipe used by Indian women,face pack of mud is used to restore the nature colour of the mausoleum.

11.To deter insect fouling,no light illuminates the Taj at night.

12.The British and Indian governments hid this enchanting beauty of Taj by erecting bamboo scaffoldings and covers over the dome of the Taj to mislead enemy pilots during world war II.
