Distraction is considered as the enemy of our work, which really is. You can't achieve your goal if you are distracted, no matter whether it is short time distraction or a long time distraction. 

Short term distraction - The distraction which affects your short term goals instead of long term goals. For example - You can't score good in unit tests if you are distracted because of social media.

Long term distraction - The distraction which affects your long term goals. Infact the long term goals are not achieved when you have short term distraction. For example -  You want to score good in boards but you didn't study whole year and now you are regretting that “I wish that I was not distracted by that toxic relationship”. Here you can take your own example , if you are distracted from something or other.

No doubt that distraction is our enemy , so why are we distracted, we know that we have to study , but we perform exactly opposite, we open youtube and watch some videos there. Why? Your desire to know the answer is good, this means that you want to work and achieve goals but you are not able to do it because of your addictions. 

What? ADDICTION? Yes addiction , it is the addiction of social media that is responsible for your distraction. If you aren't addicted so why did you scrolled today? Any answer? If you aren't addicted so why didn't you studied for your exams? Did you?. 

The addiction of the comfort, enjoy and other forces us to get distracted. I have on more example to prove my words - “In the mahabharat i have seen everyone fighting, they didn't scrolled social media or shared snapchat or insta stories/post, they all were focused on their goals. Best example is “Arjun” ". He is famous for his focus and he once shooted the sparrow's eyes without any mistake. This is called focus. This is called dedication. Now if it is our addiction then why are we addicted? Why we always keep scrolling and wasting time?

Answer is comfort, i have read in a book that our mind always try to find ways to resist pain. If you switch on the A.C you get comfort , once you get comfort, you repeat it, when you repeat it you get habitual, when you get habitual you can't adapt to summer, and if the board exam Centre is in a school where there is no A.C then I am sure that you will be distracted by the hot and humid climate. I hope that you have got an idea from the example.

When you perform your favorite or comfort activity then you get the dopamaine released and you feel good. But when you study you get bored due to which you mind tries to resist pain and start searching for enjoyment / fun.

so this happens – “when you start reading a chapter or memorizing it then you start feeling sleepy and if don't then you get bored, this signals the mind that it is pain and mind tries to communicate with you and the message is “lets scroll some picture for sometime”.  you do the action and then you suddenly realize “oh i am distracted”.

This was the simple science that i wrote , I hope you understood it.

Now comes the steps to avoid distraction.

  1.  Get used to boredom and be out of your comfort zone. (boredom will decrease your dopamaine and your mind will be habitual to adapt in pain and at the same time getting out of comfort zone will boost this process.)
  2. Switch of your smart phones or use applications that helps to avoid the social media or usage of phone.
  3. Don't multitask
  4. Complete one goal first
  5. Lord Krishna said that “Everything that is out of your goal is lust”. For example – your goal is to follow a diet and you want junk food, then this is your lust.
  6. Fill every space with your goal phots, content, lines , audio etc. No rubbish should be allowed at the work place
