The IPCC released strongest warning on the climate change and global warming. This warning is known as Code Red for Humanity. IPCC in its latest report stated that Human activities are the reason for this red level of threat of climate change.
WHAT IS IPCC ?
IPCC was established in the year 1988. World Meteorological Union and United Nation Environmental Programme created this organization. It stands for Intergovernmental panel on climate change. IPCC major work is to work with countries around the globe and assess them about the things or measure needed to deal with climate change and risks that occurs due to it and how to reduce them.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has released its Sixth Assessment Report. It is titled as Climate Change 2021 The Physical Science Basis .
This report consist:-
This report clearly states that Human activities are causing the climate change. This planet is irrevocably heading towards the 1.5 degrees Celsius warming.
New report of the IPCC predicts that on the basis of latest commitment made by nations to curb their emission, the earth is on verge to encounter the rise of global warming temperature by 2.7 degree celsius by 2100. IPCC termed this as Code Red for Humanity.
The report also states that if the countries do not practice Extreme level of emission cut, then it is very difficult to fulfill the goals of The Paris Agreement, 2015 .
IPPC SIXTH ASSESSMENT REPORT ON INDIA-
India's geography makes it more vulnerable to extreme climate change. The geography of India is such that it is surrounded by the warm tropical waters of the Indian ocean from all the three sides. In the north, Himalaya is melting.
With more than 7000km coastline, India will also witness high level of sea rise. It will lead to frequent level of flood in lower areas.
Six port cities like Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Surat and Vishakhapatnam. These cities with 28million population will face coastal flooding.
Glaciers of Hindu Kush area of Himalayan region will keep shrinking and snow cover will retreat at higher altitudes.
Time has come and denial is not going to work any more and neither it is going to save us.
Climate change is bigger threat to humanity than COVID-19, because of its irreversible impact.
The government should made regulation that all the States and UT of India should make carbon-neutral plan. UT Ladakh and Sikkim already started this plan.
Nature always repays, never forget that. It is upon us that in what manner we treat nature so that we can be ready for the consequences.
