“Wow, this city looks so clean & people are so warm here, Mumma”, I said to my mother during our first outing in Bhubaneswar.
Visiting Bhubaneswar was one of my best pleasures. I never felt that for any place (other than my home), I would felt peace & calm.
But that thought of my mine changed after I visited Bhubaneswar & Puri. People were so welcoming. They were simple. No hush-bush of that busy metropolitan feel!
As a tourist, one of the most treasured things about any place is its local food. I had never eaten a proper Odia dish.
So it was my chance to indulge in some unique dishes of Bhubaneswar, which I have never tried.
I believe when you are in Rome, do as Romans do.

Chenna Poda is a dessert made from milk. It is one of the most famous desserts here. You can see many street shops making them fresh.
It's an inexpensive dessert. Localities love Chenna Poda. So, as a tourist, I ought to try this famous sweet.
It was awesome in taste. After coming back to my place, I tried making Chenna Poda at home. But again, no taste would be better than freshly prepared one :)

One of the famous snacks you can see on the streets of Bhubaneswar is Aloodum Dahi Bara.
I had eaten Aloodum Dahi Bara mix as a morning meal. It was such a fulfilling meal that I didn't feel like eating till afternoon.
The vendors would serve it on a handmade leaf plate. It tastes so yummy & looks so tempting with different types of garnishing.
. . .
Odia Rasgulla is also one of the unique dishes I had as a visitor.
I had eaten a white-colored sponge at my place. But for the first time, I had the brown Rosgulla in Bhubaneswar. Odia Rosgulla looked tempting & had different taste.
. . .
There are many types of rice plates available in Bhubaneswar for dinner or lunch.
Rice is the staple food of Bhubaneswar. They would have different combinations of rice with cooked vegetables.
In some restaurants, there was the provision of serving food either on steel plates or on leaf plates.
These rice plates are so filling. Sometimes, I had to share that rice plate with my friends to finish the Thali.
Both vegetarian & non-vegetarian options are available here. You can order as per your requirement.

Being the capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar not only showcases the uniqueness in the traditions & cultures but also in the food.
All these unique foods, which I had were so delicious & healthy. People here would serve the visitors with so muchlove and warmth.
I really like the place & of course, their unique food dishes.
Bhubaneswar, a city, my city, which seems never empty and is also never full, always embracing the newcomers and introverts visitors with warmth, looking after their necessity not stupidity.
