Have you ever thought of making your perfect 6'inch or a foot long sub from the beloved SUBWAY ? If yes then you have come to the right place.
The no 1 problem that I have heard from people who doesn't like subway is that "It's really confusing" followed by making a sub which they didn't like and thus never going back to the place. To understand the whole essence of Subway, you first need to understand what I call as '6 glorious rules of making a sub'. they are:-
1. MOOD/LIKING
2. BREAD
3. PROTEIN(VEG OR NON VEG)
4. VEGGIE SELECTION
5. SAUCE SELECTION
6. ADD ONS
The main and the most important thing of making your favorite sub is YOU! yes you, you have to understand that the first thing to know about is everyone has different taste so what your friend might have gave you his favorite sub which you might not like because it’s not your perfect sub, it’s your friend’s favorite sub. The first thing to think is in what mood are you, you might be in a morning lazy mood who need to have a calm soothing flavored sub or you are a hyperactive beast and need a spicy and strong taste or even in a mood of a sweet and tangy taste. First know your mood and what you need then advance with next steps.
The bread has the most subtle taste and probably the hardest to note while tasting. However bread is the base of the sandwich and thus it critically important that you choose the right bread. Every bread has a different softness and different crunch when you toast it. Toasting is its sub step. Breads like parmesan oregano and multigrain are perfect if you want a crunchy taste while honey oat and roasted garlic has the most taste and thus would be best if eaten fresh. 3) PROTEIN
Just to be clear protein means the cutlets, chicken, fish, egg, kababs, etc which one can see on the menu which one can see above the counter .the price range of these proteins are divided in 5 parts.2 for veg,2 for non veg and 1 for egg. protein is like the body of the sub. the main taste which one would get is from protein which one chooses .protein is the base taste of the sub. I will be discussing about these proteins in deep in my following blog so remember to check that out also
Veggies are the stuffing of the sub. There are in total 8 types of veggies available to choose from in INDIA subway. I have divided veggies into two type 1) juicy and 2) flavor. These veggies are not divided totally into these two groups but each veggie gets inclined to either side when another veggie is added. Like for e.g: olives are basically balanced from both side but when we add veggies like onion and lettuce the olive’s juiciness slightly lessens and flavor gets higher and vice versa when we add tomatoes, cucumber and pickle. I will explain my whole technique in following blogs to do check it out.
Sauces as far as I think is the soul of the sub and influences the most for making your favorite sub. In sauce basically there are currently 9 sauce and I have divided sauces into 1)liquid and 2)saucy and each sauce is given either of those two division and each sauce influence other sauces from making it’s taste to negligible to making the sauce stand out .The most important thing one should remember is don’t go for ‘all sauces’ but go for 3-mix or 4-mix.I will be describing different types of sauces in my upcoming blog so do check it out
Add on is somehow a mix of sub division of ‘mood/liking’ and financial thing. Add on mostly include making sub meal and adding extra meat or cheese to the sub. Add ons is like an optional thing depending on your hunger and the amount of money you have or you want to spend.
