It's season of mango π₯. And who doesn't a sweet and sour mango everyday for morning breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I in general like a little sour mango, some totally raw mangoes mixed with salt and spice! That has the potential to bring some chills into my body.
In indian household we can make almost a variety of things from a single source and yes mango is there in the list too.
First to start is with some mango shake, a refreshing sweet drink made of fresh mango pulp mixed with some milk can make anyone's day in the hot summer. What a joy!
Second is the most popular and it's the mango pickle. My grandmother used to make aam ka aachar from the raw fallen mangoes. Mixing it with mustard oil, adding some spice and salt and leave it in the sun to cook it for some days and there is was ready to give in some amazing combination of taste with some bland rice and daal.
And here is another one called amath. Might be known to only a few people. This is specially my grandmother recipe and she makes it for my sister. It's basically like a mango candy π¬, gooey and sticky and sweet but totally natural. Unfortunately I don't know how it's made. But I will let you guys know the recipe in some other blog.
So in this lockdown even I was doing little cooking and I decided to make some mango π₯ π° cake. Just mixing some mango and sugar puree into the main batter of cake and what an amazing turnout that was.
And obviously the joy of getting ur hands and mouth dirty and dripping of the mango water while eating mango just goes to another level.
And mango doesn't stop here in providing us happiness, the same mango grown in different regions of India bring slight but big changes into their taste. I knw the name of few like the Alphonso mango, dasahari, Kolkata, chausa.
But obviously because of the pollution and tree cutting, the mango fruit turnup is also reduced. So what can we do to help in whatever way possible. Well we can completely wash and dry the seeds and couriers it to the professional agriculture facilities for growing trees.
Mangoes are an integral part of the food culture in India and I love mangoes and so do everyone in my family.
