Pygmalion effect or also called Rosenthal effect is a phenomenon wherein high expectation leads to a better results in the given area.
Rosenthal and Jacobson conducted a experiment in a teacher and student background. They tested about 100 students IQ and further divided into 50 and 50 group. Both the groups had a normal IQ. now a teacher was to conduct a test for the 50 students each. The teacher assigned to one group was told that the IQ of this group was normal. And the other group teacher was told that the IQ was higher than normal( even though it was normal).
The students group who was told that their IQ was high( even though it was normal) performed much better than the other group.
It just shows that if other people have better confidence in you than yourself , then you tend to do better.
For example our supportive parents, they always believe in us when we ourselves don't.
I had a real life experience with this. So I was in class 9 and I had just returned from one year of boarding school and my english speaking was better than other students. So my english decided to choose me for the independence day speech, and I had never given speech in my life before and I had stage fear , so I never tried. And I kept telling my teacher that I won't be able to do it and she should go forward and select somebody else. But she was insisted on me only. And so I prepared and practised everyday with mam. And she had such confidence in me , when I didn't. And to my and everyone surprise I delivered an amazing speech on independence day. It w boosted my confidence and thank my teacher for that.
Same goes for my parents , they have always supported me during my exams.
Even law of attraction says the same thing, your energy gets reflected first to you and then to the people around you. A positive effect can change your mood, your life, your destiny and also to the people around you.
Hence we should start appreciating ourselves first and then to others.
Extending our love to ourselves first and then to others.
And always encourage other to do something even they don't believe in , you might just change their life.
Let's bring in the Pygmalion effect .
