In every culture, there are some legends that haunt us even in modern times. I am sure you have heard of Bloody Mary but, do you know anything about Japanese Bloody Mary who haunts schools bathroom and come only once summoned. One of the most famous Japanese urban legends is related to the toilet and known as the Japanese Bloody Mary or Hanako-san.

Hanako san believes to be a little girl and has been around since 1950 and haunts the third stall of the school's toilet. She was a little girl who died during WWII. However, there are two different stories regarding how she died and became one of the most malevolent spirits. In one story, she was playing hide and seek when she hid on the third cubicle of the toilet in the school bathroom when the siren for the bomb started buzzing. Since she was in a toilet cubicle, she couldn't hear it and died.  In another story, she was the victim of abusive parents who killed her and threw her in the third stall of the school bathroom.

In urban legend, Hanako-San is depicted as a small girl with black hair in bobbed cut, wearing an outdated old-fashion red skirt.  The story of Hanako-san got into the limelight in the 1980s even though it existed for a long time.

Hanako-san is also known as Japanese 'Bloody Mary' due to similarity in the summoning process. If you really gutsy or just want to try your luck you can summon Hanako-san by following two summoning processes.

In one process:- You can go to any school bathroom and while holding the candle in front of the mirror call out her name three times, and if you are unlucky enough, you will see her reflection in the mirror. In customary, it's believed that whoever summoned her will get haunted by her spirit through the mirror.

In another process:-  In this you go to the third floor's bathroom and knock  three times on the door of the third stall of the toilet and ask her a question in Japanese " anata wa, Hanako-San, ga arimasu" which translate in "Hanako-San, are you there?" If you are out of luck, you will hear the answer in a faint voice. If you choose to open the door, you will greet by a small girl in a red skirt which is obviously Hanako-san, who will kill you by putting your head in the commode or you will see a lizard with three head who will devour you. Either way, you are going to die, so it's better to leave her on her untimely rest, don't try to provoke her as she won't come unless you summon her.
