BMI is a measure of person being thin and fit based on their weight and height. It just say whether a person is having healthy weight or not.
Formula to calculate BMI
BMI = Weight(kilograms) / Height(meter) square
The weight in kg is divided by your square of height in meters. If you know your height in feet you just convert it to meters using calculator or some online metric conversion calculators.
NOTE: 1 foot = 0.305 meter
BMI is categorized into 4 types
BMI < 18.5 is considered as under Weight again this can be classified as severe thinness whose BMI is <16 and Moderate thinness if BMI is range from 16 to 17 and Mild thinness if BMI between 17 to 18.5
BMI = 18.5 to 25 is a normal value of BMI and It is nothing but person is having perfect weight based on his or her height.
BMI = 25 to 30 is a over weight category. The people belongs to this category is having slightly more weight than they should have.
BMI > 30 then this person is considered as a obese and having obesity. obesity is nothing but a person is suffering with over weight and fat. obesity again classify into three classes: class 1 obese BMI value lies between 30 to 35, obese class 2 's BMI is range from 35 to 40 and if the BMI value is > 40 then they comes under class 3 of obesity category.
Do not simply over thing on your size be practical check your BMI and nutritious level of your body to consider whether you are healthy or fit. If you are under weight or over weight please consume required calories of food to balance normal weight.
