Hello guys, I am very glad to meet you again on my blog. As students, we all try to learn things faster. Especially some huge topics or answers if we are at the school level. So here are some ways by experts (not me) to get any topic faster into your brain:
1. GET OFF THE IDEA OF PERFECTION
Humans are known for their imperfections. They are not perfect in their ways. We often tend to make mistakes. Why I mention it here is that if you aren’t getting a point right on a topic for the first time, just skip it. It’s fantastic if you completely understand the topic. Even if you could understand the topic by 20%, it is still great. Don’t get frustrated by things that are unnecessary. Just sit back and enjoy studying.
2.ORIENT YOU TO THE TOPIC WITH SIMPLICITY, AND THEN DELVE INTO THE TOPIC
I think that sounds more confusing. But what I mean is that it simply FRAMEWORKS or SUMMARISES the topic. For example, let us consider that we need to study the topic of diabetics in the medical field. Before getting directly into the textbook or the slides, just watch a 3-minute video or read a summary of it. It need not be more exactly related to medicine, but as general knowledge. This gives me a framework for what the topic is. If you get directly into the topic or the answer, you might end up with confusion as you mess up the topic.
3. POMODORO TECHNIQUE
It is an Italian word meaning "tomato." What does tomato do in studying? Well, Francesco Cirillo is the one who invented this method. Actually, he had a kitchen timer in a tomato shape. Every time he did some work, he used to set the timer for 25 minutes and do the work with full concentration. If the time is up, he quits the place, takes a 5-minute break, and gets to work in 25 minutes. Like wise, set a timer for 25 or 50 minutes and study till the timer runs out. And take a break of 5 to 10 minutes. As for the research, our brain cannot concentrate on a task for more than 55 minutes. So this makes your brain feel fresh after the break and makes you study faster.
4.FEYNMAN TECHNIQUE
It is a very good technique that was invented by Richard Feynman. This technique is followed by most of the teachers themselves to understand the topic. This contains four steps.
Choose a topic and read it two or three times.
Teach that to anyone (if no one is there, imagine teaching it to others).
If you get stuck anywhere, get back to your book and read it again.
Simplify your explanation and create analogies.
This would not only make you learn the topic, but also make you remember it for a longer time. This is how teachers learn the topic and remember it for years (by teaching you).
5. COMPARE AND LEARN
We learn things faster while comparing than when studying things in a vacuum. For example, if we want to learn about type 1 diabetics and type 2 diabetics, instead of studying them as different topics, we can compare and study them both. To make it clear, instead of studying type 1 diabetes as an autoimmune disease, study it as type 1 is an autoimmune disease and type 2 is a non-autoimmune disease. This will not only make you learn faster but also improve your comprehension of that topic.
BONUS TIP
THE SHORTCUT
If you really get fed up with understanding an answer or a topic, just take a shortcut, like building up a story related to it or comparing it with other topics that do not belong to the lesson itself. Sometimes taking shortcuts is not a sin, but it makes your work easier.
