Menstrual cramps are throbbing or cramping pains in the lower abdomen. It happens because of contractions in the uterus, which is a muscle. Menstrual cramps in medical term also known as Dysmenorrhea.
Cramps and pelvic pain with menstruation and with common causes such as heavy flow, passing clots, uterine fibroids or endometriosis. Many women have menstrual cramps just before and during their menstrual periods. Some of them the discomfort is merely annoying.
There are certain menstrual symptoms such as aching pain in the belly, lower back, hips and inner thighs. When the cramps are severe, in such cases the symptoms are stomach upset, vomitting and loose stool.

π Pelvic Inflammatory diseases(PID): An infection caused by a bacteria starts in the uterus and can spread to the other reproductive organs.
π Uterine Fibroids: These noncancerous growth in the wall of the uterus can cause pain.
π Adenomyosis: When the uterine lining grows into nearby muscle.
π Cervical Stenosis: The opening of the cervix is small enough to impede menstrual flow, causing a painful increase of pressure within the uterus
The higher risk is for the women those who are under the age of 30.

βΌ started puberty early or at the age of 11.
βΌ having irregular menstrual bleeding(metrorrhagia)
βΌ having a family history of menstrual cramps and smoking.
If you have menstrual cramps you may take aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen.
Home Remedies That Can Be Useful:
1.Drink hot beverages such as tea
2.Sleep in the fetal position. Try rolling to your side and tucking in your arms and legs.
3.Avoid usage of sugar and salt. Avoid alcohol and coffee and red meat.
4.Pineapple juices with a portion of berry juices and add little lemon juice at the end.
5.Drink plenty of water to fight dehydration.
6. Keep a warm hot pad in the stomach to relieve pain.
7. Use hygienic pads, tampons and menstrual cups. It is preferred to use cloth pads.
8.Give a little massage to your lower abdomen and lower back.
9.Get enough sleep.
10.Change your sanitary napkin for every 3-4 hours to avoid irritation and allergies.
