There are some people who make life easier by just being there. They are the ones who just came to your mind while reading it and you are already smiling. They are beautiful inside and out and you are someone who never really compliments anyone but with them, you tell them that they feel like sunshine on a cold winter morning without any hesitation. Do. You with them, you want to do things right because they deserve it. You want to be there for them as they are there for you always, through thick and thin, in good and bad. They have seen you grow from an impatient and insecure person to someone who is trying to love themselves a little more everyday. They have seen your love is not for me βtoβ I think I am falling in love phase. They have seen you in love and nursed your heart when it got broken. They have laughed and cried with you. They have held you tight till you fell asleep on nights that felt too long and made you pancakes for breakfast with extra chocolate syrup, just the way you like it. They have celebrated your wins and cheered you up whenever you failed. They secretly bought you your favorite books and helped you get ready for your dates. They have given you the ted talk before your interviews and waited more anxiously than you for the results. They are the one who never left your hand and always stayed. So, when your boss yells at you for not submitting the project before the deadline or your date cancels on you or you have an argument at home, you call them up.
And the next thing we know, they are at your place with your favorite pizza and a bottle of red wine that they stole from their father's collection. You have the biggest grin on your face already. Yes, it still hurts somewhere but with them by your side, it hurts a little less and the day doesn't feel so worthless anymore. With them, it feels easy.
I'm slowly learning that even if I react, it won't change anything, it won't make people suddenly love and respect me, it won't magically change their minds. Sometimes it's better to just let things be. I'm slowly learning that life is better lived when you don't center it on what's happening around you and center it on what's happening inside you instead. Work on yourself and your inner peace.
