Face serums have proven to be an effective skincare product to advance your routine and improve your facial complexion. But what is face serum? And what are its benefits for your skin?

Serums are oil or water based liquids that can easily absorb into your skin. Serums are wonderful additions to your skincare routine as their rate of absorption allows for deeper penetration of ingredients. There are many different types of serum like Vitamin C serum, Niacinamide serums, Hyaluronic acid serums, Retinol serums, Peptide serums, exfoliating serums, glycolic serums, salicylate serums etc…

I am sure that you are wondering why there are so many serums in the market, and you must be confused which serum would work for your skin type. Let me help with you this!

If you are looking for something which would help with your pigmentation, acne marks, uneven skin tone, dullness or you need your skin to shine and brightening then you have to go for vitamin C serum to increase collagen production, retinol that refuses inflammation, zinc that calms irritated skin, salicylic acid that unclogs pores, etc.. It helps you to regenerate the old energy or glow to your skin . We can also use Vitamin B3 serum for these concerning issues of your skin.  If you have open enlarged pores, excessive oil production then you need to go for Niacinamide. Niacinamide helps build keratin, a type of protein that keeps your skin firm and healthy. Niacinamide can help your skin grow a ceramide (lipid) barrier, which can, in turn, helps retain moisture.

If you have dull, dry, dehydrated skin then you need to go for Hyaluronic acid. It is going to provide intense hydration to your skin. If you need to treat fine lines, wrinkles and reverse the signs of aging then you need to add Retinol. Using retinol serum on your skin will help to regulate oil production in the skin, thereby, decreasing the rate at which your skin breaks out. Retinol unclogs the skin to reduce acne break out and it also reduces the visibility of acne scars by encouraging the sloughing off of old skin cells.

If you need to treat your blackheads, whiteheads, acne then you need to go for salicylic acid based serum. Now that you know which serum to choose. Thats it!!

Most serums can be applied twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. However each serum has different recommendations when it comes to how and when to apply. Suggestions can be found on the packaging of the skincare product that you have bought.
