#Kaanekkaane Review
The plot of the movie is what makes storytelling interesting and it is usually driven by a sequence of events happening arounda group of fictional characters but when it comes to storytelling through cinema, even though you might have extraordinary events and visuals, at the end its always the emotion that works and makes a film stay at the heart of viewers or stand the test of time, the hardest part was always to create authentic human emotions that could work. But is it possible to move a film's plot completely dependant on the emotions of its characters? Have you ever seen a thriller that moves the plot not just by the strong events that happens but by the psychological turmoil of its characters?
I would call this way of writing as a “Writers Delight” as it gives freedom to explore characters and not care of anything else but it's not as simple as writing a film with events, an overdose of such emotions alone with the lack of events would probably lead to a hectic watch. Kaanekkaane not only attempts such a rare feat in today's cinema but also succeeds in it by making every emotion work.
The film explores how difficult it is to look someone you love in the eye and tell them that you have wronged them. Every character in the film is crumbling under the weight of their own guilt.
The film revolves arround a single event and three characters arround it. It was mind-blowing to realise how the writers have used this single event and characters to explore complex human emotions of greif, guilt and loneliness. These three emotions and the characters carrying them are predominantly what makes the film. But as I said earlier there was a risk of this writer's delight becoming a hectic watch on screen but Kaanekkane easily overcomes this barrier with the brilliant performances from the leads, especially Suraj Venjaramud's supremacy and finesse in carrying such a character of grief and confusion is what makes the film stand tall!
This is one of the film that I would call a a writer's film rather than that of a filmmaker. Bobby and Sanjay proved that the heart of writing films is not in the grandeur of its events but in the strength of it's emotions and thereby reincarnates a dead and long forgotten subtle art of writing a film purely based on human emotions!
An Absolute must watch movie! My Ratings - 4/5
