Prashanth Neel's directorial prowess shines through in 'Salaar,' crafting a world where he adeptly guides the audience to rally behind the protagonist. His storytelling channels a god-like perspective, engaging us in high-octane action sequences while maintaining a sense of hero worship throughout. For the most part, 'Salaar' succeeds in this endeavor, offering an engaging drama that captivates the audience.
Salaar" is an action-packed South Indian film that seamlessly blends intense storytelling with breathtaking visuals. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the movie revolves around Salaar, a ruthless and enigmatic character portrayed by Prabhas. The narrative unfolds in the dusty landscapes of the underworld, where power dynamics and revenge take center stage. Prabhas delivers a compelling performance, bringing depth to Salaar's character with his commanding screen presence. The film's cinematography is a visual treat, capturing the harsh beauty of the locations and enhancing the impact of the action sequences. The tight screenplay keeps the audience engaged, with well-executed twists and turns.
The first half was decent, with the interval being a highlight. However, the second half was superb, featuring a gripping and robust screenplay. While it may resemble the KGF franchise template, "Salaar" excels in characterisation. The action scenes, particularly in the second half, were outstanding. Prithviraj as Varada Raja Mannar fit the role perfectly, and Prabhas as Deva also delivered a commendable performance. One major drawback I observed was Shruti Hassan's performance, which was not convincing at all.
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language action drama film[5] written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The film stars Prabhas in the titular role, along with an ensemble supporting cast that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy and Ramachandra Raju. Its core plot is inspired from Neel's 2014 debut Kannada film Ugramm and is the maiden part of a two-part film. The film follows Devaratha "Deva" who helps his childhood friend Vardharaja "Vardha" become the undisputed successor of Khansar after Vardha's father Raja Mannar's ministers and advisors plan a coup d'état to kill them by hiring armies to attack Vardha and Khansar.
These kind of movies are the reason Prashanth Neel deserves every bit of praise he receives. These kind of films are the ones who make us proud of our Indian cinema. Original story, grandiose action sequences, unprecedented camera shots, unique cinematography everything just everything is in this Prashanth Neel's masterpiece and Prabhas just fits the missing piece in this movie. Overall a great directorial which would never disappoint the audience at any point of time in the entire 2hrs 52mins runtime. Can't wait for Part 2!
If you liked KGF, then you should not miss Salaar! Prashanth Neel Brand of movie making with an excellent story telling - back and forth way of story telling. Keeps you on the toes in every frame with high energy. Prashanth Neel has given Prabhas larger than life image after Rajamouli's Bahubali. Overall a bfreathtaking screenplay with 'what next" moments througout. Violence on the higher side but the Drama demands such things - Poilitics, Power hungry men and plotting against each other for ruling Khansaar
