Mahendra Singh Dhoni, known by his full name M.S. Dhoni, was an Indian cricketer who rose to fame in the early 21st century and served as captain of the squad that won the one-day Cricket World Cup in 2011. He was born in Ranchi, Bihar (now Jharkhand), India, on July 7, 1981.
In 2004, Dhoni made his debut abroad. In his fifth international game against Pakistan, he showcased his bat skills with a 148-run innings. He reached the India Test team within a year, when he made a name for himself by scoring a century (100 runs or more in a single innings) against Pakistan. Dhoni assumed leadership of the one-day team in 2007 despite having little experience and guided India to the Twenty20 (T20) global championship. In December 2009, among other things, series victories over Australia and Sri Lanka propelled India to the top of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings for the first time.In 2008 and 2009, Dhoni received the ICC One Day International Player of the Year Award for his performance. Dhoni's brisk 91-run performance in front of a home crowd in Mumbai during the 2011 one-day World Cup helped India defeat Sri Lanka in the championship match. Additionally, he helped India get to the 2015 Cricket World Cup semifinals. Having captained India in 331 international games, the most by a captain in the history of the game, Dhoni retired from captaincy in 2017. He left international competition three years later.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) was established in 2008 as a result of the explosion of T20 cricket on the Indian subcontinent. Dhoni signed a $1.5 million contract with the Chennai Super Kings during the league's debut year, making it the biggest deal ever. He then guided the group to two straight victories (2010, 2011). Dhoni joined the Rising Pune Supergiant after the Super Kings team received a two-season suspension from the IRL in 2016 for its involvement in a match-fixing scam. He joined the Chennai Super Kings again in 2018, and the squad won the IPL title both years.
Children that refuse to play football (soccer) when ordered to by their parents or teachers are not actually participating in a sport. If their primary motivation is money, professional athletes aren't either. Practically speaking, reasons are frequently contradictory and frequently difficult to ascertain in the real world. However, a clear definition is necessary before making any practical judgments about what constitutes play and what does not.
