Chennai, Aug. 5: Suresh Raina, a former cricketer for India and one of the greatest middle-order batsmen for the nation in ODIs, was honoured and awarded an honorary doctorate by the VELS Institute of Science and Technology and Advanced Studies on Friday (August 5).

One of the most adored Indian cricketers in Tamil Nadu, Raina has commanded attention on a number of times and contributed to the nation's key victories. Due to his long-standing affiliation with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh attended the university's 12th Annual Convocation event in Chennai (IPL).

In 205 IPL games, Raina has accrued 5,528 runs. He has played for the MS Dhoni-led CSK in every season save for 2016–17, when he served as the captain of the Gujarat Lions. Often referred to as "Mr. IPL," Raina hit a lot of runs for CSK each season and holds the record for most runs scored by a batter for the CSK team in the IPL's history.

Raina, affectionately referred to by CSK supporters as "Chinna Thala," who has also triumphed in the ICC Champions Trophy and the Champions League T20, was honoured and felicitated by Chief Guest RN Ravi, the Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, the founder and chancellor of VELS Institute, attended the beautiful convocation event as well.

The 2011 ODI World Cup champion and four-time IPL champion with CSK, Raina, spoke on the occasion "This excellent institution and the affection the people of Chennai have shown me over the years make receiving this honorary degree a very special moment for me. There is nothing that compares to the relationship I have with the local supporters, for whom this city is like a second home." "We are honoured to collaborate with the legendary Suresh Raina. As a legend in the game of cricket, we hope he continues to motivate young people to achieve more "Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, who founded VELS Institute, remarked.

DIRECTOR SHANKAR

The renowned filmmaker Shankar is responsible for several firsts in Tamil and Indian cinema. A sequel to the popular film "Indian" starring Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, and Siddharth will commence production in September.

The most recent breaking news is that Vels Vistas Institute just awarded director Shankar with an honorary degree. At the VELS University campus at Pallavaram's 12th Annual Convocation event this morning (August 5), Shankar received his honorary doctorate. The event's photos are presently trending on social media.

Remarkably, Vels University also conferred an honorary degree on former Indian and CSK batsman Suresh Raina today. On the work front, Shankar just completed a significant schedule for his continuing movie "RC15," which he will continue when "Indian 2" is finished.
