On October 6, in the wee hours of the morning, Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, travelled for Australia to compete in the T20 World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah, the best fast bowler for his team, was forced to withdraw from the prestigious competition due to a back ailment, thus a 14-member Indian team took a plane to Australia. In the next days, his successor will be revealed. All members of Team India, including the team management, posed for a group shot before leaving for Australia, according to a tweet from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, also uploaded a selfie with Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel. Suryakumar Yadav, a standout batsman for India who recently gave some outstanding performances for the team in the shortest format of the game, posted a photo of himself with Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik on his official Instagram account.

In a recent three-match T20I series, Team India defeated South Africa 2-1. This was their final bilateral appearance in the shortest format before to the World Cup, which starts on October 22. The next day in Melbourne, India will face their bitter rivals Pakistan in the opening match of the prestigious competition.

Prior to the event, India was dealt two significant blows as all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were ruled out due to injury. Axar Patel filled in well for Jadeja while he was away, but there are still rumors about who will take Bumrah's spot in the team. According to sources, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are among the front-runners to succeed the 28-year-old speedster.

On October 17 and 19, respectively, Team India will play two ICC warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand in addition to two practice games versus Western Australia.

Due to a weather delay, the first One-Day International between South Africa and India has been postponed by 30 minutes. The match will begin at 2 PM after the 1:30 PM coin toss. An update on the matter was given via the BCCI's official Twitter account.
