Hello friends
India has joined a select club of six advanced countries with the Pune-based Centre for development of advance computing (C-DAC) developing the country first supercomputer .
‘Param’ the indigenously built 64-NODEC super computer , is capable of reaching peak power of 100 megaflops ,which by the end of August 1990 was raised to one gigaflop.
The development of ‘param’ promises the creation of seamless computing platform for supercomputing at an affordable price in the international context.
‘Param’ has a wide array of applications -oil reservoir modeling for enhanched oil recovery ,seismic data processing for drilling oilwells, satelitte image processing for resource exploration and disasters managements , geographical information system for cartography and mapping and mapping ,weather forecasting for agriculture ,computational fluid dynamic for space research , finite element modeling for design of large and complex structures , semiconductors process simulation and very large scale integrated circuit design for the semiconductor industries .
it would also be useful in molecular modeling for drug and chemical design of new material large scale database management system, speech recogination ,computer animation for feature film production ,all at a speed and scale not achieved by indigenous computer so far.
C-DAC , functioning under the department of electronics ,has delivered Param as a culmination of the second phase of the three - tier program. The program aims at designing developing and delivering high performing super computer based on parallel architecture and Their commercialisation at internationally competitive prices.
India performance during 90's decade it is a major development in the field of technology , India can generate an indigenous server (rudra) which can meet all the requirement of the government and PSU's first of its kind server made in India, along with full stack software development by C-DAC as well.
PARAM siddhi AI has an Repeak capacity of 5.267 petaflop and Rmax capacityof 4.6 petaflops. it was led and built on NIVIDA DGX SuperPOD architecture . The system, jointly built by the department of science and technology and ministry of electronics and IT under the National supercomputing Mission , was conceptualised by pune headquater centre for development of advanced computing the prime delivery of mission , accomplished by the 300 manyears of effort , has been the PARAM parallel supercomputer along with the advanced programming ,Environment PARAS and spectrum of application kernels in science and engineering. The launch of the C-DAC marked the begining of the era of high performance computing in India.
