A year before the pandemic, I was out with my buddies at a short distance from my campus. It was a rainy day, all I could see was a muddy road with no cars, and trees dancing in the rain. As we passed by the road, my gaze was drawn to a board on which something was written in bold letters. The message on the board was:
"Shoot for the stars, even if you fail, you will land on the moon.''
Sometimes it just happens; a few things just stick in your mind and you can recall them even after a long time. And now, almost two years later, I'm bringing it up here.
Okay, so at that time, I had no idea what the quote was trying to express and had no idea what it meant. I learned then, that the motivation you seek can simply be found in the things in universe that serve as motivational models.
So, if you look at the image above, you can see the earth , the moon, and stars -a little far away. If your goal is to reach the stars, you will atleast get to the moon if you fail. Whatever your life's aim is, always think a little bigger than that, so that even if you don't succeed, you will be in a better position than before.
Only those who are determined,persistent and dedicated towards their goal, will be able to concentrate on a larger goal and give it their all in order to reach the peak of success.
Sir Edmund Pervical Hillary was a Newzealan mountaineer and the first person to reach the peak of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest. His success stemmed from his ability to think big and being ambitious. Climbing small mountains and hills was not enough for him. He craved for more and more. Hillary's desire were so big, that he embarked several journeys to strengthen his stamina and prepare his body for obstacles and challenges he would face while summiting Mount Everest. If Hillary had not succeeded in climbing Mount Everest, still he could have gain fame and success for climbing the second highest peak of the world. That's one of the benefits of thinking big and aiming high- even if you don't succeed, you won't sink too far.
Always strive for something four level higher than your main goal. If you do so, you'll see that achieving your goal has gotten much easier. For example, if someone wants to join the Indian Air Force and appear for the AFCAT exam, they should prepare at UPSC CSE level. For them, passing AFCAT will be a piece of cake.
I'd like to end my piece with a quotation of the Former President of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam;
