Welcome back Guys! to my blog. I hope all you are doing great. As you have seen Today's topic above. It's about my life I have discussed with you in these lines.. These are my thoughts in these lines…So lets Start…
I usually prefer taking my morning walk in isolated tranquil lanes of our area and avoid nearby walker's zones or streets which witness market like crowds these days.
One such morning while on foot in one of the serene lanes, I saw from a distance from an old man standing in front of his house. I remembered having a brief association with him many years back.
As I went near him, I was in two minds whether to say hello to the greybeard. I doubted if he would recognize me after such a long period. A mean thought also passed my mind that what was the ‘utility’ of saying hello to someone who was in no way actively connected to my current life.
But the finally a 'human' in me guided me to greet ‘Namaste’ to him and I did so, only to receive a very cordial reciprocal ‘Namaste’ from him. Not just this, what followed was a very congenial and worthwhile conversation with him for thirty long minutes.
In today's world when a warm personal interaction even between members of a family is often missing. I was amazed and much moved to find human touch, cordially and warmth in a near stranger.
As I bid goodbye to the old man I realised how my action done without intent or expectation had rewarded me some very fulfilling and valuable moments.
I lamented how every moment we contemporary self- seeking humans engage only in ‘goal oriented’ activities, aiming to achieve something or the other. And ironically even after gaining something, we seldom feel totally contented or happy.
I felt this is strikingly in contrast with the fundamental teaching of Geeta which advices us to engage in an action without any expectation of reward. And then on, in my everyday life, I decided to do some actions sans any selfish purpose or decided objective.
Now while my morning walk or run, I often stopped to inquire about the well- being of the sincere sanitary worker devotedly cleaning the road.
Sometimes I briefly paused to hear the birds sing, feel the nature and sensed that nature too was eager to interact with humans, but we were too ‘busy’ to hear nature's precious voice.
Any day, if I saw children playing cricket, football or any game, I stood for a few minutes watching them, observing and identifying with their emotions as they played carefree. This gifted me priceless reminiscence of my childhood days.
Sometimes, i just stopped at the roadside tea stall, had a cup of tea and simply listened to the chats of the common man. Believe me every such activity gifted me some worthy moments. So can we not spare a few minutes from our speedy clocks for some selfless activities say like talking to the watchman of our building, to the paperboy or milkman, inquiring about the well-being of our maid and her family? Amazingly, this can gather a lot of value for us in our otherwise egoistical existence.
Can we not take a brief break from our work and spend few minutes scribbling or painting our hearts on piece of paper. I am sure doing this we will be able to treasure lot of beautiful moments for ourselves.
Many of us gather lot of riches, fame and recognition but miserably fail to collect true value in life perhaps because we rarely engage in ‘no gain actions' understanding their great worth to our lives. These non targeted action can truly transform the daily dry grind of our life into a meaningful journey and collect some very valuable moments for us.
